Top 10 most powerful synchro monsters

1) Dark Dive Bomber

2) True Six Samurai- Shi En

3) Trishula Dragon of the Ice Barrier

4) Brionac Dragon of Ice Barrier

5) Black Rose Dragon

6) Star dust Dragon

7) Tech Genus Hyper Librarian

8) Formula Synchron

9) Scrap Dragon

10) Goyou Guardian

Time for some explanation. You really cant deny that DDB takes the top spot. It dominated a whole format of Yugioh whereby the first Cat player to draw a god hand and drops DDB will win.
I still remember being one of the few OCG players on TCGplayer.com, and explaining to them how good DDB was, and i was mocked by most who thought that nobody would even touch DDB.

True SS Shi En is the second most powerful card because of how easy he is able to be summoned and the synergy he has with his deck. It can also negate a free spell/ trap which makes this card so good, and your opponent has to waste a Dark Hole/ Book of Moon just to force this card's negation effect. Then if he wants to make more moves, he still hasn't cleared the possiblity of multiple books/ warnings/ magatamas face down on the six samurai player's field.

When i was in KL i played against Sean (a Six sam player with god luck) who would open with gateway and good cards each game. Traumatic experience. (no he didn't stack, he just shuffles well)

Above all, Six Sam Shi En is incredibly difficult to destroy, since you can just substitute a random kizan or whatever samurai on the field to prevent Shi En to be destroyed. Truly the most powerful and annoying synchro in the game right now.

Trishula is self explanatory because usually, whoever summons it first will win the game. Brionac is the best OTK machine around and is incredibly easy to summon (6 is a magic number for many decks around)

Black Rose came fifth because it can perform Wrath of God. Stardust is still a good control option so why not.

Tech genus Hyper Librarian is there because of draw turbo decks like Fish and Fabled draw engines. Formula Synchron is a pot of greed in disguise too, combined with the librarian. i'd like to see formula synchron gettin hit in the upcoming banlist.

Then Scrap Dragon and Goyou, which are 2 decent generic staples in everybody's extra deck.

Take note that this list isn't affected by favoritism. I hate TSS Shi En. Nuff said.

My Favorite list will probably go something like this:

1) brionac
2) trishula
3) black rose
4) scrap dragon
5) naturia beast
6) stardust
7) collosal fighter
8) junk destroyer
9) fabled raging
10) hyunlei

---------------------------------------------

Though its a little hard to say, Black Rose really needs to be limited...

That will solve all the Debris Dragon problems.

I cant believe someone paid $180 for the Duel Terminal TCG Trishula...

I'm also happy that Kuching will finally get a more active, decent Yugioh community cum 2011! Man, why do i have to have SPM this year... =.=

Thinking of going to LA to study. Or New York, because unc works at a uni there and i can get special rates.

Or Perth. But i heard Perth doesnt have Yugioh, not that i care..

But thats only after a year of KL. Most likely will be going to Taylor's College next year, see ya there next year =)

Forbidden Lance and and Debris Dragon

Two different card reviews:

1st: Forbidden Lance.

Q: Why should we use it?

Ans: Because it can get over Book of Moon, the number one annoying card in the game. Nuff said. PS: useful in certain situations too.

Like totally awesome in Scrap decks. lol.

--------------------------------------------------------

2nd: Debris Dragon in XX sabers.

Okay the whole trend is splashing 3 Debris in all Plant synchro decks and Junk and Debris decks.

But what about XX sabers?

Its perfect combined with XX Saber Dark Soul.

In fact, if you think about it, the advantage it brings is equal to, if not more powerful than the advantage it gives Debris Dandy decks. I mean sure they get 2 tokens, but then for XX Sabers, you can search a Faultroll/ Fullhelm/ Boggart to your hand to complete the gay combo.

For just one card, they can destroy the whole field and search one to hand.

It wouldnt hurt running an extra debris (like 2 in the deck?) , because its totally useful in different situations, especially the ones where you cant get make any moves because you dont have the right card.

It is INCREDIBLY easy to search to your hand now that you have 1 sangan 2 debris, and maybe some pot of dualities to do the job.

This is gonna create the mst, heavy storm relationship, whereby you set one you get hit by mst and get hit by a beautifulsetup. you set 2, you run the risk of getting bombed by storm and lose advantage.

This also becomes similar, because opponent can die to black rose and debris if they overextend too much, and if they dont, hyunlei will rape them and you have control of the game.

Makes the deck just like Debris Dandy, if not more explosive.

It gives the control edge to XX Sabers, making less aggresive and swarm oriented.

Yeah its better than running the 3rd Boggart or Faultroll, where it will clog your hand and make you feel frustrated drawing 2 or 3 at the same time! *I know i am so gonna get flamed for saying this*

If you dont need it at that moment where you draw it, then you are doing fine and most probably in control of the game. So, its like a backup rope-of-life card.

Now everyone can Wrath of God ! (MTG term)

==============================================

I would also like to wish everybody Happy Chinese New Year =) do not get too wasted, do gamble alot, and do not spend all your ang pows on Yugioh or you are gonna regret it !

YuGiOh once again!

Honestly losing interest in Yugioh atm. I'm very sceptical about the ban list so i'd wait till then to play YuGiOh properly and competitively again :D also, havent had much time to put my mind on the game.

I caught sight of Blue Rose Dragon earlier and I'm not sure if it will work in plants or just slow you down.

Honestly, Debris Dandy is already a slow enough deck, but good and explosive nevertheless, so would adding 1 copy of this dragon make any difference to its consistency?

It is a self replacing monster which revives Black Rose Dragon, Dandylion, Tytannial, Lonefire etc.

Dark means fodder for Chaos Sorceror which is a very good tech that replaced Caius in OCG builds.

I also saw Maxx "C" when mike bon pointed it out to me , a similar card to Black Shining "G", but is an exclusive for the TCG only. I think it is a very good card and the more i look at it, the better it gets.

You may not know it, but i love card mechanics that work from the hand, eg: Cyber Dragon, Honest, Gorz, and Effect Veiler.

When Konami released Gorz, i practically fell in love with it, and the latter 2 because they were very good balanced tactics, that brought alot of variety to the game.

I can discard Maxx C in response to a special summon and it would nett me one card, so at most its a one-for-one.

Its basically Konami's answer to Tech Genus Hyper librarian which encourages synchro summoning and imbalanced drawing of cards.

Basically, the general mentality would be to discard it when you know your opponent is gonna make 2 or 3 synchro summons/ special summons this turn.

You can discard it and i guarantee you your opponent will not special summon anymore for the rest of the turn. Why? Who in the right mind will let your opponent draw 2 or 3 cards in one turn. Fuck no, right!

So you can count it sorta as a temporary Royal Oppression, because its only for one turn so it reminds me of Trap Stun. Because seriously, the drawbacks are that being a monster effect, it can be negated by koaki meiru guardian, doom calibur knight, divine wrath, GB chariot etc.

Oppresion is a trap so it has its drawbacks of Dust Tornado, MST etc.

Oppression may be long lasting but that means its purely for sidedeck when your slower deck faces off against a fast deck (hint hint samurai), and it is made for decks like this format BF and metabeat.

Since Maxx C is temporary, this means it can be used in decks that still can focus on special summoning.

Of course, there is one situation that your opponent will ignore its effect, that is if they guarantee they can pull off game

However that would mean they make more than 2 or 3 synchro summons that turn (assuming only), so it could give your opponent a chance to draw into Gorz, Battle Fader, Tragodia etc.

Pretty balanced imo =)

YuGiOh 5Ds is ending and I'm really sad about it because it was a great anime, with an awesome storyline.

So far, i have liked all the 3 YuGiOh series, because:

1) Yu-Gi-Oh!- the original version- because the really unrealistic feature and the originality of the episodes made it a very good anime, it was so epic everytime Yugi won with Saint Dragon God of Osiris etc.

i dont know why but it gave me that warm fuzzy feeling when you watch it, as you remember the times when we were just newbies, and we admired how Yugi played in the anime, and we would go ballistic everytime we got an ultra rare foil card that exceeded 2500 attack points. I remember the times i worshipped my blue eyes white dragon (yes im being hyperbolic now), or carried my deck everywhere when i was like 9 or 10?

2) YuGiOh GX- Now Gx was a really different anime, and what really appealed to me is how GX was made to revolve around schooling. I think GX relates to most of us, because we're still in secondary or tertiary level education, and that slight innocence in Juudai's face and his wacky smile (before he became emo), brought some freshness to the Yugioh World. Also, i believe there is a part of Juudai in every single one of us.

3) YuGiOh 5Ds - gave us the synchro summoning concept, which is by far the best change Konami has ever introduced to the game. I didn't like the anime at first, but i think we could all agree it has the best storyline and plots among the 3 Yugioh series. In fact, its like some a split between a twisted soap opera + the epicness of any blockbuster fiction action movie, and good ol-fashioned Yugioh mashed into one messy enjoyable anime.

I really hope Yugioh Zexal lives up to its expectations. Yugioh has been an awesome part of our lives, and Zexal better kick some ass.

If you think i will enjoy it because it revolves around school like the GX era, no way jose. It will never bring the same warming effect as Juudai and the gang. First of all, the artwork is already a let down, and it seems to appeal more to kids, and i'm not too sure if kids will actually even like it.

Zexal reminds me of digimon- it had gone through so many generations, and i basically grew up on the original Digimon, for the first 3 seasons, where Agumon, War Greymon, Veemon, imperialdramon, and Gallantmon, were the main highlights. Now it seems Yugioh has lost its idea too and its magic is slowly fading.

I apologize if this post is being pessimistic, because (maybe just maybe) it makes your interest in Yugioh diminish, and you are beginning to feel like me, im sorry but its just what i feel hahaha.

However im not quitting Yugioh, as i like my Yugioh career just fine the way it is. In fact, i may sound controversial here, but im excited to see the new cards zexal will bring. Not the anime! Just the cards!

So, Konami and Shueisha, please dont let us Yugioh fans down!

Ban List Predictions!

So, it's that time of the month again !

i decided to do it sooner, because i fear i might have no time in the upcoming weeks due to school work/ social life/ clubs and societies. lol.

its really tiring as you go to school at 7.30 in the morning and have non stop schooling (with occasional breaks in between) until 3.50 pm. When i get home, i just eat something and pop into bed.

I cant believe people thinks Konami would release Pot of Duality in GS 2011. Wait for GS 2012 or maybe some random structure deck reprint next time. Although rumors and list has been spreading everywhere, i'm also in disbelief of the list as quite alot of the cards that have been confirmed announced are so crappy like ceasefire, nobleman, united we stand etc, but then suddenly all the unconfirmed cards become so popular cards like Stratos or Duality or Cold Wave, icarus ?

Nah, its likely just a player's own predictions because he wants more dualities thats all. Im partly saying this because i will feel WTF that duality drops price by almost 75% (yes i admit it!) and also you all do know its quite impossible right but you guys really want it to happen right...so the human subconscience works in ways to convince you that it could very well happen because desire is a strong emotion.

Throw me a list? or pictures? i would say it could be photoshopped.

of course, its just my personal opinion and you dont have to believe me, but im not gonna budge from this until i see a confirmed list in front of my eyes posted on shriek ocg news.

However i would like to believe elemental hero stratos is finally becoming legal in south east asia =) hero beat decks will finally be tourney viable.

So here goes:

Banned List:

Cold Wave --- Pretty self explanatory, imo. keeping opponents from playing spell/ traps for effectively 3 turns (if you hyunlei/ black rose) is just too broken. even though both my decks use Cold wave I cant deny how much it needs to be banned.

Nothing else, as Dark Hole and Monster Reborn are far from being the broken cards in this format.

I didn't include Giant Trunade although its awesome, but we need to have two spell/trap clearers like Storm and Trunade. If Storm is unlimited, Trunade's effectiveness drops anyways.

Restrict to 1:

The first card is confirmed Gateway of the Six Samurai as it makes everybody happy =)

2) Kizan - Death to six samurai. Turbo engine in Six Samurai. Come out one piece, plus 2 counters.

3) Heavy Storm- konami made a mistake banning it, and it led to people setting their whole hand down. Come back and make a difference! Explained it already.

4) Formula Synchron- refer to baha's post. Enough imbalness with frog monarch, and bonacini.fish.dek, and all the librarian abuse. Secret pot of greed in disguise.

5) Solemn Warning- Changed the game as everyone main it instead of BTH, and its 1000x better. Like Judgment, it deserves to be at 1. 3 is too scary with 3 book of moon too.

6) Tsukuyomi- unbanned. sure why not, flip flop control isnt even a viable idea anymore, and even if used with empty jar, its way too slow. tsukuyomi is an old card, and like cards like chaos sorceror, dark hole, its not even worth banning anymore. correct me if im wrong here and some ftk exists.

I didn't choose lonefire blossom in here although (proven by baha), to be the core engine of plants debris, because without 2 blossom, the consistency of the deck will be hindered. Seriously, if you only rely on milling to send the plant cards to the grave, you will be frustrated because you keep milling away your pro cards and draw your plants (hands on experience here)

7) Tech Genus Hyper Libarian- Crazy advantage draw engines. Some people feel that it should have been banned the moment its card text was announced to include "both players synchro summoning". Its a really good card, and a staple, and i feel that its already bad enough that it can help decks SO much, with only one copy of him on the field.

But what about decks that can play 2 of him at the same time and still synchro summon after that? It means a free Pot of Greed for decks like Fish Synchro and Dopple Warrior- Draw-Dandy or any synchro turbo engine.

Restricted to 2:

Book of Moon- 3 is too broken. 2 can still stop synchro, but its somehow similar to how bottomless trap hole was limited to 2. As how i can see it, (and discussed with mike bon), this card should be able to stop exceed summon too.

So, yes, 2 book, 1 warning is balanced as 3 book, 3 warning is too imbalanced. I can also see konami doing this too because they want us to wrack our brains and innovate to find more cards to replace them etc. Of course decks like Debris Dandy has stuff like Raigeki Break.

Two is still enough to stop TCG xx sabers from being the most dominant deck.

Spirit Reaper- Same as marshmallon.

Destiny Draw- Now, the dhero engine is a very balanced engine. There was no reason to limit destiny draw in the very first place anyways. i dont wanna repeat anything so you could just pop over to mike bon's blog and read about destiny draw rant.

Icarus Attack- Very pro at 3. Now this decision was made with me being skeptical of BF. Icarus at 3 is too much, and like Bottomless Trap Hole in this format, i think it should be semi limited because its way too game changing. Backed up by the fact that BF has their swarm advantage and hand tricks like kalut, and the ability to change playstyles from anti meta or meta.. its just too much for me.

But im also weary that Icarus is the card that keeps BF competitive (or at least keeping it tier 0/ s rank)

Unrestricted to 3

Magical Stone Excavation- The cost is too expensive as its a -2 for you and there is currently no spell card worth paying such a cost for. Although Diamond Dude Turbo could use it, but seriously what the hell diamond dude turbo?

Bottomless Trap Hole- Way bad this format with everyone pulling off compulsory trigger effects or declaring monster's priority till its almost redundant and useless. If Warning and Book goes to 1 and 2 each, i can see BTH coming back at 3.

----------------------------------------------------------
A card that is currently pending thought is Magician of Faith. I see it as way too much support as it could respawn the apprentice engine, and being spellcaster it could be used in those random spellcaster synchros i see around the internet.

Her ability to add back a spell is valuable, it could save your ass but in certain times, it could prove useless and maybe add back for you something random like reinforcement of the army only.

However, its slow, as you need to set MOF first and that wastes a whole turn which is very very precious in YuGiOh, one turn can cost you a whole game, and you also run the risks of having it destroyed by opponent's card effects.

As a tradition for list makers, here's my secret wish: Gorz to 2. Although no way its happening. and limit gemini spark, but also no chance happening lol.

Im pretty sure i missed out some cards but im too tired to think about it. ciao.

Unbanning of Heavy Storm?

No no, there's no news of that happening, but let's review the possibility of it being unbanned and some of its implications.

Of course I'm talking about Heavy Storm limited and Cold Wave banned.
The most obvious one is ppl will finally stop to set their whole hand on the field.

Personally i think it was a mistake to ever have Heavy Storm banned. And Cold Wave is 100x more broken.

Beat decks won't be so powerful anymore.

People going back to setting 1 to 2 face downs at the most, and it will be very easy to know if your oponent has Solemn Judgment (because no one sets full backrow without Solemn. No. Dont gimme crap like Dark Bribe, because its not seeing play)

Yugioh will go back to being conservative again. Except Fairies but they have Solemn Punishment. If the next format focuses on death to 6 sams, i can see Fairies being A rank or almost S rank deck because of Solemn Punishment (provided they run Sanctuary)

Debris Dandy will be more powerful with opponent playing only one or two backrow, but even that wrecks. However, Debris Dandy isn't even imbal now.

Destroying or stopping Six Sam from setting heavy backrow is good too. Very annoying with Warning and Book set at the back. But Magatama will be splashed =( and i hate magatama more than shien.

Good against BF too =) Now they can't overextend with set backrow. Which means playing against BF will take a long time, and it requires more skill than ever before, because they are trying to avoid your Heavy Storm and bait you into playing 2 or more cards, while you are trying to commit as few cards as possible to avoid Icarus. Which spells FUN.

Having opponents set only one to two cards each time is good too, as it will increase the effectiveness of Cyclone (MST) and Dust Tornado-ish cards. This is probably due to destroying their one and only card so you can just make the push.

Not like the games nowadays where stalemate happens when both players set full backrow and wait till someone has the balls to make the first attack/ big move/ push.

If Cold Wave is banned, it will stop the effectiveness of Black Rose Dragon and Hyunlei etc. But who cares, at least you dont stop using spells/ traps for 2 to 3 turns. Whereby only Gorz or Battle Fader can save you.

Unbanning of Heavy Storm will increase effectiveness of Effect Veiler. You need to stop your opponent from making a big push with their monsters. What better card then Veiler. Negating Faultroll, Caius, Kageki, Debris Dragon etc is good.

Of course i don't agree with people saying Imperial Order should be unbanned. Its a one for one and a "Royal Decree" which you can choose to deactivate anytime you want. 800 life points is still cheap, imo, as it reminds me of oppression in a way.

Thats all for today.

side note: helping friend sell 3x Pot of duality for rm 260. pretty cheap if you ask me. do the math yourself. about rm86.67 for one piece. compared to people selling 120 in KL and 100 in other places in semenanjung.

Giant Rat

Replacing Super Nimble Mega Hamster in x sabers.

simply because it has a hell lot more targets?

sounds fine to me.

now i dont needa bother abt airbellum or dead draws with hamsters in late game when darksoul gets used up.

both go off 80 % because opponent attacks them.

hamster may look good big and field presence etc but i dont like it as it fills up 1 monster zone when im gonn make a big push with multiple faultrolls and gottoms emergency call.

also, if i flip hamster, i summon a monster face down but it cant be used for synchro summoning anyways so it doesnt matter much to me.

Can't Wait For This Format To Be Over!

I hope everyone had an awesome new year =)

Played casual yesterday. Frog Monarch died so much. Opponent used Zombie World, i emo, he used Zombie Master to summon my Frog too.

Then played against Scraps, and i got Soul Released.

Scraps Vs Frogs!

Best situation today: Your staring down a field of 4 Scrap monsters, two being random scrap monsters, and the other 2 are Scrap Dragon and Scrap Twin.

My turn: Standby, Summon Frog, play Enemy Controller, tribute Frog, take Scrap Twin. Use Twin to attack and destroy something, and then tribute Scrap Twin to return Scrap Dragon and the other random Scrap monster to hand.

Epic clear field advantage :D

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On a side note, Soliel posted about Swords of Revealing Light being decent this format.

Its true, as it throws decks like BF, Samurai, Plants, Hero Beat off guard.

Being able to bait out MST is priceless this format, but Plants actually has Caius to take care of it.

Baits Icarus Attacks or Gemini Sparks too, or you stall for a while , while you draw out of a bad hand, or set up the field.

The only decks it loses to are Frog Monarch, and maybe GB but its hard, they need to get a bestiari too, and the thing is that these decks comprise of the minority of the decks around.

There are basically two types of Malaysian duelists mentality when they see Swords of Revealing Light.

Mentality #1 : Aiya! Swords nia? Nothing one, no advantage, won't kill me, i scared meh, okay let you stall, i also set up field and kill you!

Pros: Let you stall, and catch your opponent off guard next few turns when you draw out of a bad hand.

Mentality #2 : Oh no, must direct MST, i wanna attack! ><

Pros: Wasted MSTs.

Of course, I'm not gonna say which one of the above mentalities i possess.

Also, you must understand sometimes you will come across random player decks which splash Breaker (spellcaster) or Destructotron (Psychics) or Aklys (Dragunities), and you lose heart and think to yourself, "why the hell did i maindeck this?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No more comment about this format, can't wait for it to be over.
