So explanation:

No Bls banned. So i've one question to ask... How many times have you lost because of BLS? It just has not been so bad this format. Definitely more destructive than a Scrap Dragon, but not as bad as a Trishula

Tour Guide- obvious much. But this is not gonna happen.

Magician Of Faith- Time you came back. She's not splashable anymore and shes too slow. The only decks i see her being put in is Hero Beat and Chaos and maybe some may try to throw in Plants, which the latter i highly doubt. Konami always tries to return one banned card back, Tsukuyomi is still too damn strong.

Insector Hornet- Death to Insectors

Insector Damsel- Death to Insectors. I would actually prefer to hit Damsel over Hornet.

Because in Game 1 you will still die to Insector loop as long as they successfully get Hornet in grave. At least when Damsel is limited you wont die to too many xyzs. Hornet + centipede still netts advantage but then its not as bad as having your whole field cleared out and then facing a full brunt of xyzs. You may lose a card and opponent can search Damsel to hand but at least next turn you still have resources to make a comeback and prevent Damsel.

At least with Damsel limited, it doesnt mean that the card is dead. Insectors still run 2x Call of Haunted and some have resorted to Limit Reverse. This makes it harder for them to simply spam Damsel so it encourages a little more skilled play.

Rescue Rabbit- Rabbit is strong.

Royal Oppression- This seriously needs to come back. Hong has said there would be games won just from backing up a beatstick with Oppression. I disagree because that situation is not impossible to get out of. Its still good and it should come back. Not like Insectors care about Oppression anyway :)

Wind Up Zenmighty- Eat my hand nom nom nom nom. Now TCG gets Wind Up shark?!

Armor Ninja Bladeheart- Airman + Reborn = 8800 damage

Goyo Guardian- Give BF some love. we need our trusty Goyo back!

Semi Limit:

Holy Shine Ball- Kill off Gachi Gachi. If Agents want to consistently dish out Gachis, they will have to resort to using TG Striker.

Hyperion- So strong bro.

Grapha- Strong!

BF Gale- Give Bf some love back. I prefer this then Kalut because being Honest from the hand is really irritating. BF Gale gives BF back some speed and some synergy in the deck. Its better than giving Kalut because Kalut just makes the deck more control based whereas Gale forces them to commit more to the field.

Lazy to think of cards that are released back to 3. Maybe Destiny Draw...

Okay, so i finally found time to update. Yes im not dead.

I couldn't update about Yugioh lately because i couldnt find the time.

Seriously, without internet service or a laptop in KL is tough, heck i just found out bout the new Hieroglyph Dragons lately.

I did go to Andrews place once in a while to use his computer, but we usually ended up playing and talking crap instead of me blogging.

Im back in my hometown for a week =)

I did head to town to play Yugioh only twice in the past month and it was invigorating to finally say im part of the KL community.

The other times, my friends wanted to go to shop so i also went to shop. Got alot of nice shopping done so im happy.

So, im personally really excited bout the new dragon archetype.

It has a Rota, a Shura, an Icarus, a Cyber Dragon, and a Hyperion and a boss monster. And the deck spams Neo Galaxy much faster than you may think.

Throw in a couple of Veiler/ Maxx Cs, and a solid trap lineup and it will do decently or at least have a bit of a matchup against Wind Up/ Insecters.

So what am i playing now? still plants! loyal plant player. although it got bullied by Andrews DD Rabbit Ragia so much in so many Game 1s.

i will be slowing down on blogging till i get my laptop in KL and slowing down on Yugioh (maybe) until the March banlist.

More blogging done tmr, gonna sleep!

So, a friend of mine, Kyde, pm-ed me last night to tell me he had this build of LS Dragons, which was emphasized by Konami to be used together.

I saw the list and was quite intrigued by it.

Its a really cool deck, no joke, whereby milling Eclipse Wyverns will become a free Gold Sarc for Judgment Dragon instantly.

Kudos to him for actually building the deck. Actually, if you think about it, Konami really knows the good ways for us to play our SDs

So i tried playtesting it and it worked pretty well on DN. It went 1-0 against Insecters , but 0-1 vs samurai. Nothing much i can do when the samurai player went first with gateway, rota, and 3x six united. and when i milled with Charge of Light Brigade, i sent MST, Dark Hole, and reinforcement of army to graveyard. crazy? only happens on DN

will playtest in KL next week whereby i will be there for a whole year =)

i would -1 Gragonith, -1 ROTA from the build above and +1 Wyvern/ Allure/ Treacherous Trap Hole or something like that.

And yeah the deck was designed to work in Asia format.

It is a plant : spore fodder, random black rose effect cost fodder.

Level 4 : nice to special summon librarian, nifty for Trishula fodder with Junk Synchron. level 4 is nice for Lavalval Chain, which i am trying to build a deck around now.

Dark : Chaos fodder, Allure fodder.

1550 attack : Baits Bottomless Trap Hole, and has an easy to fullfill special summon cost.

Top 5 Duelist Accessories YOU Should Have!

So today we gonna have a casual post. This article is meant for the OCG players as most players in the TCG probably have more access to these accesories already.

First of all a good pair of sleeves!
Ultra Pro (scratchy back ) sleeves

Player's Choice sleeves. Incredibly smooth, gives you the chance to make the nice shuffling sounds.

You will need a good pair of sleeves for shuffling convenience. Although in official sanctioned events, you can only use Konami sleeves. its always good to use other types in casual play. Then during events, your Konami sleeves (or its double layer) wont be worn out and no one can accuse you of marked sleeves.

I suggest everyone to at least try these TCG branded sleeves at least once in their dueling lifetime.

Next is this sexy sexy sexy deckbox. Amir showed the pic to me a while ago. Its nice, stylish, compact and it carries 2 decks! If you have a chance to get one, get one now!
Next up, is a nice playmat tube to keep your playmats safe! so, they dont get worn out or torn easily.

Next you will need a rare sexy mat to use so that you can be the envy of your friends :D

Using expensive stuff is cool, no?

Nah just kidding. Any mat is fine. You will need it to keep your cards off oily and greasy tables.
Last but not least, a "New Victory" Professional Card Album!

Dont get the Ultra Pro ones as the quality aint as good at the one above. These have protected covers unlike Ultra Pro ones. These have very tight , clear, and compact sleeves which are better for your cards.

Furthermore, the one above has more sleeve pages so that you can fit more cards.

Lil bit expensive? The investment is worth it =)

edit: Tour Bus' effect has been confirmed! I just woke up to see it on Shriek TCG

When this card is sent to the graveyard, target 1 monster in either player's graveyard except Tour Bus and shuffle it back to the deck.

So ummm, quickly out of my head, let's do a short discussion!

Its a decent card. I'm not sure if it gets its effect when its detached as an xyz material or not, but i think it should, i mean it is supposed to work together with Tour Guide, the ultimate xyz bitch.

Assuming that it does get its effect ... here goes!

I think Plants will find room for 1 or 2. Definitely not 3. I would, main 1 only if i were to play Plants. Seriously, once you have seen TCG Plants, no heart to play OCG Doppel anymore :(

So, what you can do, is return your opponent's cards back to his deck. This means you can mess with Insecter Hornet, and mess with opposing Plant player's graveyard like their Spore, Glow Up etc.

It is a pseudo Transmigration Prophecy. Transmigration Prophecy has always been a decent card but it wasnt very splashable. Now that a monster version exists which coincide with TGU, then its good.

You can also return your own monsters back to the deck! For example, you can recycle your Tengu again, or return Sangan back to your deck, or TGU again. TGU engine is quite broke if you ask me now.

But! its not dead if you draw it in your hand! You can still use it for a discard cost for One for One or use it to fuel Tragodia's effect.

Plus, if your running Dark World with 3x Tour Guides, Tour Bus is not dead since you can use its effect with the DW stuff.

Who cares about drawing multiple TGU now that you have this card to make up for it? i can draw 3x TGU and be happy that i can pull off Sangan multiple times with it.

The bottom line is TGU is a broke engine, and Tour Bus makes it even better and efficient. I would still run 1 or 2 in plants only.

PS: i just saw the article by Kevin Tewart about tour bus. very creative but very gay

Phoenix Wing Wind Blast

In the TCG, last time, when Heavy Storm was around, many decks ran minimal traps with Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, Torrential Tribute and Solemn Judgment. For example, the LADD era there or even some Monarch eras.

Its slowly gaining popularity as a trend now in the OCG with Heavy Storm.

For example, Sam took Top Shop Taiwan with 2 PWWB in his Insectors.

Phoenix Wing Wind Blast is a good card because if used correctly , it can be a +1 or a +2.

Take for instance, you discard a vital card from your hand to the grave for Wing Blast. Like maybe you have Spore, Dandy, or Hornet in hand.

This evens out the cost of discarding a card already because it helps you to put a dead card in hand which requires setup to the grave , where it can be live.

Or, you could discard another Mystic Shine Ball into the grave which is clogging your hand for it. Bi Xuan (Sazabi) took Top Shop Singapore with TG Agents maining 2 PWWB. Sometimes, you have too many TG Warwolf or TG Striker so it could help.

Jeff used a similar card to Wing Blast in his Junk Doppel, in Singapore Top Shop too. Raigeki Break may have been more useful for him at that time because it could get rid of threats like Dimension Fissure or other stuff for good.

Wing Blast can go as far as a +1 or +2. When you chain Wing Blast in response to another card that is crucial in a combo, and break that combo you have gained +1.

Lets say i am playing Junk Doppel. I summon Junk Synchron and special summon a level one tuner and drop Doppel to try to do Formula + Librarian. If my opponent chains Wing Blast to my Doppel it is a 1 for 1, assuming he has discarded something which benefited him like Hornet.

Then with nothing left to do this turn, next turn he will attack over my Junk Synchron and cause me to -1, meaning he will +1

Then on my turn i am forced to draw into Doppel Warrior which is a dead card in hand. My opponent would have picked up more momentum and controlled the field while i cannot even draw for options in my deck. That way, he has +2, and probably pushed for more damage.

My opponent can simply play around the card he has returned to my deck or be relaxed because the card that i have drawn is a dead card.

Lets say my opponent summons Rescue Rabbit and special summon 2 Kabazauls from their deck (everyone summons Kabazauls first to get rid of small fry in their deck), and then you Wing Blast away one Kabazauls. The other Kabazauls will be gone at the end of the turn, so you have just pulled off a one for one. Then next turn your opponent will draw crap and lose momentum and there is no Lagia.

There are other ways to plus one off your opponent too. Situations ranging from people who commit to their synchros/ xyzs, and you just PWWB it away.

Have you ever been Trap Dustshoot, and then Phoenix Wing Wind Blast simultaneously? I have not, but i can assure you it sucks to the max. Imagine getting Time Sealed all over again. No wonder Time Seal was banned.

PWWB can also do random stuff like aid in OTKs whereby you return spell/trap, or a monster on the field. Targeting Zenmaines and Gachi Gachi is also delicious.

Its overall a versatile card, and its similar to Raigeki Break, so you could look into its usage, and consider it as an option if your deck can accommodate it.

It is better off in a deck which is more aggressive and controlling , so that you can maintain absolute control over the field, while decks which are more combo based should play Raigeki Break so your opponent's big monsters don'-t get the better of you, or you can destroy that pesky Dimension Fissure which is messing with your combos.

Heard Sam won Top Shop tourney in Taiwan with Insecter Windup. Malaysia team also got second in Asia Team Tourney. Now Sam has every title except World Champion, although he has been to Worlds twice.

Congratulations to Malaysia for topping the whole event. Phillipines also did very well in the 2 tourneys whereby they got 1st for team, and 2nd for Top Shop

I had free time so wanted to chill out to play Yugioh. A friend of mine decided to pay the entry fee (rm 20) for me and i told him i'll give him whatever prize i won.

I went with Junk Doppel because i didnt have any Insecters. Price jumped to rm10 per rare. fucking bloodsuckers.

Round 1: VS Chok Chee Chung
Deck Used: Chaos Dragons

I forgot what happened. Dropped Tragoedia early and Quasar from there.

I forgot too but remember i had a bad hand but i had a DD Crow which i used to remove his REDMD so that Pulsar lost its target. Dropped either Gorz or Tragoedia soon and then later on Trishula ftw.

i dropped Tragoedia and control from there. Seriously Tragoedia is the MVP for the day. Keep getting him and Gorz in my games.

He control with 2 Ancient Gear Gadget Dragon which knocked over my Gorz.

I bait out all his traps one by one and then bait out the last Ninjutsu Super Transformation Art. Then Quasar FTW.

We were going into Top 4 already anyway. But still played it out for fun.

Raioh control. Attack into Ryko but it got Chaliced, then Insecter crazy combo ftw.

2nd game i didnt draw any sided cards fml. He Veiler my Junk Synchron so nothing i can do and when i tried to Call of the Haunted into Gorz to kill Damsel, he showed DD Crow.

He Quasar me in 2nd turn. I had to use Gorz and Trag to save myself, and lost alot of advantage, I Brionac it away but he called Shooting Star and BLS and he sync-ed the BLS away for something else which i forgot, but i stalled and eventually topdeck Monster Reborn and revive BLS and killed Shooting Star. He was forced to Black Rose me, but he topdecked Quickdraw Synchron and used it to wipe out the remaining 700 lp i had left. Very enjoyable game.

I early Maxx C and DD Crow away his Level Eater and his Spore one after another and then killed him somehow which i couldnt remember. Quasar FTW

Very exhilarating game. Tragoedia saved me. Was gonna make Quasar but i had one too many token on the field, and just sync Brionac, Drill Warrior, and Librarian and wipe out the remaining of his life points.

Finals: VS Insecter

Died first turn without sideboarding. Tried to do Librarian and friends but got Torrential, Hornet and Damsel rush is nightmare. His Damsel was immortal due to Heart of Clear Water.

Drew good, which i had Chain Disappearance, Crow, Junk Synchron, Doppel Warrior, Ryko, but he drew "shit" which was actually good for him. He summoned Raioh and when i Ryko he Veiler. Then he beat with Centipede and although he search for Damsel he never play it so i couldnt Chain Disappearance it. When i tried to Crow away his Hornet, he had another one. Emo.

Shameful score and died 1000 deaths to Insecters. Massive hatred now.

He could answer my stuff one after another. A mixture of bad luck, and his deck out playing every single card i had.

Result: 2nd place.

Reprint of Pot of Duality? Heart attack. But thats still okay, got mine cheap and served a good 2 years of usage.

Release of Wind Up Zenmaines? WTF. Konami really despo. Plus this set is too good. Who wouldnt buy a box. lol. Any newbie who buys one box automatically receives a good fraction of necessary staple cards a duelist should keep.

Best GS ever.

TG Agent Angel as the my official Asia Format deck.

Can expect a fuckload of the meta to be Insecters and TGAA.

Please dont do stupid things like print Tour Guide of Underworld or Tengu in the GS. The format already quite nice over here.

I really do expect OCG to have our own "underworld tour" card soon.

Fruits of KL trip

Yugioh part of the KL trip so far. worthwhile? hell yes =)

Brought QD Doppel to KL to play. KL meta is very queer yet solid. Michael's Dragon Egg turbo and Wei Yann's different way of playing QD Doppel are good examples.

Tested with the pros today. Very good and worthwhile.

Tested with Karls insecters. Seriously too strong. kena tapao. lol. Ryko got Hornet-ed, and he let me draw 6 cards with Max C but no Tragoedia and Gorz. fml.

Without sideboard really hard to win. Tested with Michael Yaps Dragon Egg Turbo and its very consistent. REDMD plus Pulsar for loop. Not posting decklist cos i dont think i have the right to.

However it is good against Insecter. Wanna otk? Pulsars revival effect ruins everything. Big monster which cant be run over.

Wanna Hornet me to death? Pulsar annoying too.

Osiris (slifer) is definitely the best among the 3 God cards in legal version. Having the best artwork among the 3 too + it looks beast!

Also its effect is the best and is the closest to the anime counterpart compared to Ra who was made to look like a small bird. At least it can be special summoned by the likes of Monster Reborn.

Also , news about the release of a new "God" card or something?

Watched Sam playtesting the deck on DN last night.

Max C is officially a side deck viable card. Junk Doppel's popularity is diminishing in Japan but is still doing well in South East Asia region but Insect Wind Up is gaining popularity everywhere. Buy one box of Order of Chaos, and you can play the deck instantly.

Speaking of Junk Dopple, i finally got down to testing GK Junk Doppel which Johann posted on Awesome Hazel Nuts blog. He told me the deck was good in real life, and i have read tourney reports about Daniel Ang topping with the deck, which gave me the reassurance that it was good.

Sick deck. All i can say is anybody playing Quickdraw variants in non Asia format should totally drop the whole lineup for this.

If you are playing Asia format, then of course this deck cant work la. But nobody really plays Asia format decks outside of the legal sanctioned tourneys anyways.

Adding Laval Chain to the whole mix makes so much difference to the deck. Having instant access to Foolish Burial changes everything. Being able to dump a card in the early game is so good. Being able to stack Debris or anything to the top of the deck is even better.

The fact that you added level 4 monsters changes the whole deck too. You can now maindeck rank 4 exceeds in your maindeck like Utopia and Steelswarm Roach. I tested the 2 and I had to say that i felt that Utopia should be mained solely for the fact that exceeding into it can kill opposing Roaches or Raiohs.

This makes the deck a LITTLE bit more TCG. GK Spy feels like a pseudo Tour Guide. Of course there is no way you can compare the current OCG engine to the TCG one of 3 Tour Guide and 3 Tengu but one of the perks of the TCG build is that it can go offensive and defensive anytime, meaning its versatility is excellent. You can sync and do shit or just control with Roach/ Raioh and Caius. The addition of Spy gives the deck a bit more versatility.

Of course the addition of cards like Zephyrus gives the deck alot of fun tricks. For example if my opponent attacks with Raioh, i can drop Tragodia and then next turn, discard Zephyrus to steal Raioh, change Trag's level to 4 and then exceed for Laval Chain.

I am still proxy-ing Chain because its still near unobtainable here. I didnt play the exact build that was posted on Johan's blog but it was adjusted to my own liking. For example, no Ehren cos i dont have such a card, and there is no Dustshoot because my luck with Dustshoot is bad. About 5 to 6 cards different all in all.

Exams just finished yesterday and i didnt come back home. Today when i got back i got this in the mailbox, from the Phillipines.

Also, when i checked Facebook, there was alot of shit in it about Tour Bus from Underworld.

From Jeff Jones and Jarel Winston's statuses, here were some rumored effects:

My speculation on the point is that it probably has nothing to do with Tour Guide, but, it will have some other special summoning effect. Well, i hope so, or else another stupid card.

How to Side Against Rabbit Lagia

Lately Rabbit Lagia has been topping alot and showing its potential everywhere here and there.

I was discussing with Andrew the other day and we both dont really know how to side against Lagia effectively.

So, after giving some thought, i decided to post about this.

Usually Rabbit Lagia will have a high percentage of winning once they open first with a rabbit. A whole lot of backrow plus spamming Macro Cosmos/Dimension Fissure isn't funny too because they lock out alot of options.

So, how to side vs them?

1) Chain Disappearance- obvious. Successfully resolving it vs Rabbit is more or less game over. Unless they suddenly resolve a Jurrac Guaiba effect and xyz a Lagia.

2) Effect Veiler- This is for when they go first. You cant stop them xyz-ing a Lagia with no backrow so Veiler works well. Agents have it better since they have Herald as well.

3) Spirit Reaper- I just realised how good this card was against Rabbit Lagia. Lagia cant get over shit over Reaper and then Jurac Guaiba cant special summon itself either because it cant destroy Reaper so this card is actually really good for you to stall and draw out your options. In the Rabbit Lagia matchup, this card is gold. I dont know, but i will probably go side 2 or something.

4) Kuribolt- This one is really a troll option. People everywhere are saying Kuribolt summon waste Lagia so i dont know if i will go to all that trouble to side Kuribolt just to kill Rabbit Lagia as side deck space is precious.

Personally, i dont think Lagia is that scary and hard to play around against, but when they back it up with Macro Cosmos/ DD Fissure, thats just cruel. Gonna be hard for Junk Dopple to topple that Fissure/ Cosmos with a walking Solemn Judgment, and another Solemn waiting face down.

Haven't had the chance to explore other decks. Still liking Doppel cos the number of Doppel players have decreased and i like using decks that less people use :3

Anyhow, for anyone who has any other ideas, please share in the comments box so i dont get raped by Rabbit Lagia next time. Thank you!

An Update

After like a really long time, i finally have time to make a post.

Every exam has been fine, except History. Having mixed feelings. Many opinion questions, but you never know where you could go wrong cos you could have different opinions from the markers. Afterall the paper is supposed to be subjective... BUT Malaysian education is NOT subjective. Still banking on an A but no A+ so owell.

This post will be based on ORCS. From LGQ's blog, i managed to see that Konami has released Dark Blade, Head Soldier of Dark UnderWorld.

The original text of the Dark Blade card spoke about him being linked to the Dark World army so im kinda glad that its finally here. Its good Konami released cards that are linked to the old storyline of Yugioh. For example, the Legendary Six Samurai. Its always nice to see old cards again.

Now to discuss Dark Blade the Commander.

Being 1800 attack makes him nifty because he can be a good beatstick and being dark is just adding icing to the topping of a greatly designed card.

Dark Blade is probably the best generic card in the set because of its usefulness in the sideboard.

I think Konami purposely designed this card to tackle the Angel deck problem. This is like the best answer to Kristia ever, and it even answers to Hyperion, and occasional random stuff like BLS etc.

This card works well in DW (obviously), Blackwings (grave or whirlwind), and most importantly Junk Dopple.

I think this card was created FOR Junk Dopple specifically because Doppel have few outs to Kristia besides BTH (which is not even a staple!) and the other only thing is Ryko. Banishing a dark is free for Doppel who has Tragoedia, Chaos Sorceror, Tomato, Junk, Dop Warrior, Sangan bla bla swimming in the grave constantly.

The fact that it is a Warrior allows it to be searched via rota, and rota could be dead mid or late game sometimes. Having Dark sword sided gives you more options for Rota. Who wouldnt like summoning a 1800 beatstick which clears Kristia in the mid to late game?

This card answers to half the problems you could face against Angels already so i think it is pretty good. The other half comes from Gachi, or occasionally otk-ed by Daigusta Phoenix and Orange Lights waiting in their hands.

Exceed Reborn is quite funny too because it looks like a thinned down version of the TCG design of Monster Reborn and i think the Turtle Who will Once be Called God is probably the cutest card in the whole set. Enthusiasts would love to get their hands on Gagaga Girl, which i have no idea why too.

Overall I see ORCS to be a pretty decent set with good themes like Ninjas and the Insecters are also decent , so it kinda reminds me a little like CRMS except we dont have broken Dark Dive Bomber , but its definitely an improvement from the last 2 Zexal sets.

Its still not worth buying a whole box unless your gonna be playing Ninjas.

firstly, the thing konami tcg did with DW deck promotion was really really gay.

Summon out dragon, banish for redmd, special summon pulsar for redmd's effect.

send both to grave for Galaxy Eyes Photon Dragon.

Pulsar's effect ss REDMD which in turn revives Pulsar again

Total damage = 8300 damage otk lol.

Yes the more Galaxy Eyes , the more fun.

Little Bit Of Comparison

So, i decided to compare MTG and Yugioh, since i know a wee bit about mtg but i know shit about vanguard still.

One of the things that makes mtg superior to yugioh is how the game is designed. For example, mtg is designed that it is harder to lose life points unless your playing burn, whereas its so easy to lose all 8000 lp in one turn, or it can happen in the course of 2 or 3 turns.

mtg was designed so that your opponent has 20 lp, and yugioh has 8000 life points. Because mtg allows your opponent to choose to block whichever monsters you want, the game prolongs. furthermore, mtg doesnt deal the difference as battle damage to lp like yugioh does. That is not necessary a bad thing and can be healthy but when the game is designed in a way that you can dump 8000 lp worth of stuff on the field like snapping your fingers, then you have a problem there.

but its not impossible to end the game in mtg too because some creatures have flying effects or other built in effects like haste, death touch, bla bla bla.

another reason is that mtg has a larger set base. To make up for the set rotation problem (which sucks), mtg releases more cards in a set. Perhaps Yugioh OCG could release more cards, so that we have more options to play or choose from. You can really notice that YGO in the OCG now is quite stagnant and theres not much changing around so its getting kinda boring lately since everything is the same. Its different in the TCG because more cards are released cos of exclusives etc, and then the cards are really lop-sided cos some can be really broken while some really suck, which i guess are fillers only.

with that said, mtg's large set base consists of more playable themes and cards. these cards exist within the same power level which makes the game more fair. sure there are planeswalkers and stuff, and i can say almost each planeswalker is equivalent to dropping a hyperion, it makes up for it by being more generic, so each deck has its very own planeswalker unless your playing something really theme specific.

i guess what im trying to say is that the designers should make more of yugioh's cards more generic and less theme specific to ensure a lil more variation.

nowadays its all about theme theme theme, and like rauzes said, there is alot of weightage on how you build your deck in yugioh. when you play dw or angels, there are theme cards which you MUST add in order to keep it smmoth and effective.

dont you remember the times in early yugioh way before GX era only during LOB to AST, whereby there is less weightage on deck building? You dont have to throw in multiples of several copies of a certain theme card, and the best decks were ones whereby at least half of the monster base is made up of staple stuff like Sangan, Breaker, Spirit Reaper, DD Warrior Lady etc.

Take for example Zombies last time, it was just Vampire Lord, Pyramid Turtle mixed with other staples etc.

even warrior toolbox last time was not theme specific at all, whereby you just put in don zaloog, exiled force, dd warrior lady and other random warriors, and 3 reinforcements of army. there was no "Mainspring for Mainspring only" or stuff like that.

the most themed deck last time was probably gadgets and its just putting in 9 gadgets while everything else is generic.

remember how goat control was shaped from putting the very best cards in the game while backed up by a great ideology of stopping every single option of your opponent with TER, BLS etc?

Maybe im just nostalgic but then yeah its totally more boring nowadays. Maybe Konami should make it less about appealing to kids and i think they are kinda sidetracking from the original Yugioh which we all loved.

maybe this is why everyone is going into VG because it was designed by Kazuki Takahashi himself and it probably aims to try to correct every loophole YGO has. I just dont like the art. Prefer more mystic kinda art like MTG or old school YGO :D

anyhow this is not a rant, and its just a comparison :D

edit: due to large amount of response, (never knew i would get that many) i guess what i mean to say is that i want to see more decks that are less theme specific. problem was the repitition of seeing certain decks over and over again got to me. themes nowadays are good enough to keep up with good decks that comprise of non themed cards like junk doppel. so yeah. just wanted to see more theme decks vs non theme decks in the game around. just personal opinion.

i still think that sets should be larger in ocg, and stuff like that lol

Dragons

Finally, i post about Dragons!

As you all know, the new SD is broken, and releasing REDMD into competitive play in Malaysia is nuts because REDMD is a great boss monster, possibly as good as Hyperion and Grapha, as its almost the same as having 3 Gorz in your deck (REDMD generates a beatstick once per turn)

Pulsar is good because you can ss REDMD and go into something else.

The advantage about this new deck is that it makes Dragons a Tier 1 swarm deck right off the bat.

While most people have forgotten about Dragons, let me refresh your memory about what Dragons can do, and the advantages they have.

1) A decent draw engine

Trade In exists and its still a good card, where you dump something and draw 2. Unlike other draw engines, like Cards from the Sky or Cards for BF , Trade in has no drawback whatsoever.

2) The ONLY deck around to have an effective Painful Choice sort of card.

FutureFusion alone makes this deck overpowered, and once this deck is released i expect FF to be banned in the next list. Its a friggin Painful Choice which leads to +2s or 3 instantly and can even fill up your entire field. Keeping it around means dropping a 5000 attack beatstick once 2 turns have passed, or it forces your opponent to use his MST or spell.trap removal.

Furthermore if you dump 3 REDMD, 1 Pulsar , 1 other random Dragon, you can effectively end up with 5 big Dragons on your field with just one move!

3) The generation of many OTK FTK engines.
Dragons have always been somehow used as engines because of their high level, and their synergy with Trade In. Because Dragons have such good synergy with REDMD, Future Fusion, Blue Eyes White Stone (used in Exodia FTK) etc too.

There is currently one going around with Cannon Soldier/ Toon CS, and Pulsar.

4) Foolish Burial every turn. Some of you may have forgotten Dragon Canyon.

You can discard a card to Foolish Burial a Dragon once per turn. I think this is a joke because you can just discard REDMD or Pulsar and use canyons effect to dump a dragon from your deck, and then revive Pulsar ss REDMD, ss another dragon and end up with a field of 3 beatsticks just like that. Its crazy, not even Junk Dopple can generate high level stuff as efficiently as Dragons.

I can dump Pulsar, discard REDMD and something else for Pulsar's cost, ss it from graveyard and just do stuff from there. Its ridiculous and the options are infinite.

5) The only deck out there besides X Sabers or old school zombies to have so many Monster Reborn effect monsters in the deck. Pulsar revives REDMD, Red Eyes Wyvern revived REDMD and REDMD revives everything else.

Discarding White Stone for Pulsar only generates advantage in the form of Blue Eyes White Dragon, while Blue Eyes fuel the engine of Trade In, and stuff, and its a decent removal target for Pulsar (effect or removal cost) and REDMD.

Blue Eyes isnt exactly dead either. You could try running Sin Blue Eyes just for the fun , okay i am sidetracking from competitive play ideas, but then the ideas are endless.

I am very sure there are a thousand other better Light or Dark monsters around , but its just i cant think of em right now.

One of the core points of this deck now is setup. If you can effectively set up Light and Dark Dragons in the grave consistently, you can pull Pulsar, or if you need to discard for Pulsar to be ss'ed from the grave, and you can do it without losing advantage, then you have a tier 1 deck right off the bat.

As im typing this, there has only been 1 card out of the 5 new cards in Dragons (i totally have to mention this.

I been getting so many "you should use Gate of Dark World, or Snow, or your deck build of DW is bad" when those cards have not even been confirmed at that time, that its not even funny.

Most likely, the new cards include a searcher beatstick theme card, and more field magic stuff, and a useless random trap lol

Anyway, more updates once the cards are released !

When i have time, i will try to compare MTG and Yugioh through the gaming aspects and the design, and a lil on the card design but not on Konami's or Wizards faults etc.

Just finally saw Shriek after a really really long time :D

GoGoGo Giant:

Level 4/ attack: 2000/ defence: 0 / attribute: earth

effect: when this card is normal summoned, special summon 1 gogogo monster frm your graveyard. then change this card to defence position, and if this monster attacks, it is turned to defence position afterwards.

Thank god this card is changed to defence after effect resolves, or else you could summon gogogo, revive gogogo number 2, whack 2 opponent monsters and then exceed.

Anyhow, this card is a very good instant rank 4 exceed and it has potential.

Could be the new Debris Dragon kind of card. As the protagonist, Yuma is bound to receive more support in many ways.

You can also randomly revive glow up to make naturia beast.

Inzecter Beetle is also interesting as it is a pseudo Scrap Dragon, although Scrap Dragon is much better.

However, being level 6, it can be nifty for X sabers because Hyunlei is a floater and you can use your Faultroll for exceeding it, and you can actually generate profit if you send Darksoul or Gottoms E Call to grave, depending on how well you play it.

Anyhow, dropping it on the field already guarantees that it has a very big attack due to its effect.

PS: Managed to get Seans decklist for Chaos BF. Will ask him again if he allows me to post it. He won the recent Zexal Ranking tourneys again, (1st on Sunday, 2nd on Saturday), seriously he is like the new Wong Fei Hung.

Discussion:

I only run 5 boss monsters because of consistency and lack of space. QD version takes up more space. Still choosing between DAD or a Sorcerer.

Really wanna fit in another Junk Synchron, the deck will be perfect that way. 3 Tunings now to search 4 monsters sounds impractical but works better than you think because Drill Warrior can discard any useless stuff.

Really wanna cut down the deck to 1 Veiler because its quite useless in the OCG

BTH eliminates the luck factor in YGO and i even chose to run it over Dustshoot.

No scapegoat because lack of space. No mind control or enemy controller because they were just okay, and i didnt find them spectacular. they were just there most of the time and i didnt really need them.

i think 2 Trags are really compulsory in every Plant build because it makes the deck more consistent especially when you have a bad hand, and dropping a 3k attack Trag solves everything. The Snatch Steal effect doesnt work that much in here because most of my monsters are weenies but then the level modulation thing is so good and gives so much versatility to the deck.

Kinda satisfied with this build now. It may not hav the 3rd Junk or the Scapegoat or Mind Control but it works pretty well and consistently for a Plant build, the only problem i have is drawing QDs without any other monsters and a whole load of spells and traps. May cut out the engine and just play pure Doppel xD

Brain Drain Occuring in YuGiOh

Before i start my post i managed to see Wind Up Zenmaines , a tcg exclusive card which is fucking fucking overpowered. The card is pure bad game design as it is 100000000x worse than Gantetsu, really frigging solid in so many ways since it has crazily high defence and decent attack too.

Level 3 is so easy to bring out, i can even see X Sabers being played more just cos of this. Plants can just Tour Guide into Tour Guide and drop this and stall and do shit.

Konami is printing more imbal cards =(

Which brings me to the current issue. The Brain Drain phenomenom

The brain drain phenomenom describes the situation whereby a country loses its human resources to other countries due to migration.

As many of you may or may not know, Malaysia is currently facing this crisis. Generally, migration is not a bad thing, because it has many advantages which i am not going into depth, but then the thing about migration is that when people migrate out of the country, there are also people migrating into the country.

So, if the rate of people migrating into the country exceeds the rate of ppl migrating out, the country is gaining advantages in the form of human resources and many more stuff, and the converse is true.

But if the very opposite thing happened, then that country is facing a loss. However, that loss, if its minimal can be mitigated by other external factors like increase of birth rate bla bla bla.

There is a funny saying written by Shaun Tan, the finalists of the World Bank 2011 Essay Contest that goes:

Smart Indians go to med school,
Smart Chinese go to investment banks,
Smart Malaysians go to Singapore.

Of course this is very crude and cynical and im not a racist, or an elitist who has no patriotism for my country (please do not misinterpret)

Now let us apply this into Yugioh.

There are many factors that cause Yugioh players to leave the game. Some leave because they have done enough or had enough of the game, some leave for work issues, and some leave to try another game.

However, this is all very healthy.

But i noticed lately that Yugioh is being sidecast more and more.

Let us first discuss the TCG. Since i am not a TCG player, my interpretations or analysis may not be accurate so i wish to inform you all of that.

I can see many players switching over to Magic because of its skill-based influence and and also because that the game is more prestigious and stuff (kinda agree)

However the main factors the players are leaving the game can be broken down and has been broken down by Michael Bonacini (Death Aspect blog) several times again and again.

Recently, Konami has taken a liking to printing incredibly broken wtf cards. It seems that everytime a card that is incredibly imbal is released, it is the TCG design's team fault. (or so it seems)

What better example then "Charge of Light Brigade , Darksoul , Tengu , Tour Guide and now Wind Up Zenmaines??? "

It is not any better when the company decides to print these cards in the highest rarity possible.

Tengu was different and made accessible to everybody but Tour Guide, Charge, Barrier, and Zenmaines (assumed) are printed in SCR rarity. Furthermore, they choose to reprint cards like Warning and Duality, which were all incredibly crucial for the last 2 formats with maximum rarity too. Even poor Glow Up Bulb was bumped up to Ultra/ Ulti version.

Seriously, Wind Up Zenmaines is surely gonna cost like $ 70 + at first release already and will surely skyrocket. Luckily it is not a card you need 3 copies of.

I mean the OCG design team is not entirely innocent either but the only thing broken that has been printed lately is Grapha and Rescue Rabbit, which the latter is not abused that much anyway. You can make Rabbit Ragia decks where you run the risk of drawing shitty and dead cards but the rewards are that you have a walking Solemn Judgment + beatstick on the field if successful which can change the game tempo.

The promotion and the release of new broken cards makes certain players sick of the game. Obviously, they want to reward players who are willing to pay more $$ to top the game. The game over in the TCG side obviously doesnt reward much skill anymore although it is much better than last format (which i should praise)

Furthermore its not like the game is like MTG whereby skill is much more prevalent there. Once my SPM exams have finished i must really make an effort to delve into MTG for awhile.

Now i will discuss the OCG part of the game =)

The game is still very much popular and well received in countries like Japan (i think), but i will choose more to focus on the Asian format, and ultimately Malaysia, my own country.

Here in the Asian format, we aren't allowed to use much promos. I have to be very thankful because i think the Asian format is the best format in the world because it rewards so much skilled play and there are no broken TCG promos floating around. Moreover, when cards like Recruiter and Dark Soul make their way to the OCG, they arent even broken anymore and the players who top Asian format tourneys are all consistent toppers.

I mean sure GK can be still good, but then there are risks to running it, such as DW. You can side Watcher or Imps all you want but the risk is still there.

As for Sabers , it is very stable and consistent and can just about beat every matchup if played properly, save for DW and Agents, which is also a huge risk. You can tune the deck or your side to match it, but again there are risks to that too like your matchups versus random decks or how the consistency will fare.

Now, what on earth would make the players here leave the game when it is so good here?

Firstly the price of the cards here are atrociously high , and hyped, and every Malaysian and Singaporean can tell you that the card prices in Msia are higher than Singapore's anytime, heck whoever takes a trip down to Singapore for a holiday will find himself in card heaven due to cheap prices everywhere.

Now this problem is caused by dealers and certain vendors. Malaysia is not big, and is actually very small, and due to that, the access between players and dealers between different states is large. Furthermore we have Facebook now as a communication device whereby several pages are set up just to discuss card prices and selling and trading.

The problem arises when these main dealers, who control the card market, suddenly decide to inflate the price. For example a SR Siroco could have been sold for RM 80 to Rm 100, but could be purchased at Rm 50 in Singapore last format. The prices will be spread out throughout the whole country very fast, which forces players to dish out their cash quick in order to but these cards.

However the problem doesnt stop there. Because these cards are not considered "market price", other vendors are forced to follow suit to this trend, because if they do not, they will be making a huge loss here and there. There are some good-hearted vendors who choose to sell the cards at a significantly lower price which lessens the burdens for some players.

Not to mention, when the demand increases, the price can hike by a large amount. Its pretty normal everywhere but whatever.

A whole lot of Yugioh in Malaysia comes down not to the playing but also to the selling/ buying involved. There are some players who have disregarded the game, and focused most of their time on the sales aspect instead.

Because of the price hike, some players have decided to leave the game or if they do stay in the game, they do so half-heartedly, knowing that they cannot afford to pay for these cards.

So, another reason for the brain drain in Malaysia's Yugioh is the introduction of a new card game Cardfight Vanguard.

I have never played VG nor been exposed to the game, so i took the liberty to ask certain players who have picked up the game about its prospects.

I asked 5 players and all 5 said that the game does not rely much on skill, and for now, all you can do is summon, attack, guard and stuff. (terms which i'm not familiar with)

Furthermore the price a Starter deck is cheap, but then the price of crucial cards are also expensive (about 50 to 80 per card) , and because the max number of cards in VG is 4 per deck, that makes the game slightly more expensive.

Please take note that I am not calling the game sacky or skillless, please do not feel insulted i am neutral about it, but the comments are feedback i have received from various players.

All 5 players i have asked are all decent players and they have been exposed to the terms "sacky", "luck-oriented", and are exposed to the blogosphere and are well aware about skill based games.

But if the game is sacky why do the players want to play it? Is it because they prefer to have fun and play games where any player has the chance to win? Or is it because they cannot stand the highly competitive Asian format?

Please take note again that i am not ranting merely i am just conveying about the current situation of Yugioh. Please do not say "if you cant take it, just quit the f**king game". I am not facing any of the problems above such as difficulty to obtain cards, financial problems bla bla bla. I am probably quitting soon due to college

Currently, we can place Yugioh in between Vanguard and MTG, whereby MTG is the most skill-reliant, followed by Yugioh and MTG.

IN ASCENDING ORDER in terms of skill reliance: VG, YGO, MTG

Yugioh now stands in the middle, so if any player wishes to play casually they will switch to VG, and if they choose to play more skill based games, they will go to MTG.

Just to show some data, i have found out that most of the players in my area are all taking up Vanguard, and they are playing YGO and Vanguard at the same time. In fact, aside from me , i only know 2 other players who do not play the game. At the same time, there has been a massive player rise in numbers for YGO over the past year, but the massive player rise for VG is so much more in just one or two months, whereas the increase in player numbers for YGO is only 2 players.

Deck's really consistent.

I didnt really want to run the 2x Call of Haunteds because in the opening hand, they were dead usually so yeah. I would really like to run it though but i have no idea what to take out atm. I mean, who wouldn't like to abuse Trooper more? =D

2 Bottomless is necessary to combat Angels etc.

E-con is incredible in here, especially against Angels. They go decently against everything else except DW.

Tomato accesses Sangan more and level 4 in grave for variance of play with Spore

Will try to fit in Recipro Dragonfly.

So basically the whole idea is to go Quasar or spam the field with many monsters.

Love the consistency especially with 3 Tunings, who cares if they are dead in hand at times, they can be Drill Warrior fodder, Rarely dead.

Problems that i am personally unsatisfied with, concerning the deck:

1) No extra boss monster besides BLS. Need to add in a Dark Armed or a Sorcerer

2) Trying to fit in Call of the Haunted

3) After all the Librarian draw whoring, i end up with a large hand... or nothing but combo pieces. Drawing more Junk Synchrons arent that bad though

4) No Book of Moon, but then i replaced it with Econ cos it works better.

5) I know Zephyrus seems a lil out of place since there is no 2x Call, but then he has been helping quite alot lately. 1600 summon and beat is also decent.

Reborn Tengus would make this deck like perfect lol. And yup Librarian should have been banned lol.

This is actually a pretty good format which i like, but will be playing only one deck since im slowing down. Maybe will get my spirits for Yugioh lit up when i head down to KL at the end of the year, but since Andrew and Cookie are quitting, its a bit demotivating.

Sold my BLS to Sean for a "friend" price, so he decided to play Chaos BF in locals in KL yesterday.

Chaos BF actually is really good. Just throw 3x Raioh into the deck and you can play BLS

Obviously Raioh is a good meta call because its the best card to go against Angels, and Junk Doppel.

Also, 3 Raioh is enough for BLS because in BF, you can make Magical Android and no39 Utopia easily anyway, so yeah lol.

No decklist today because he doesnt want to reveal it. Note that there is still 3 Duality.

Got myself 2 Maxx Cs, Gonna work on this format's sidedeck now :)

While testing Junk Doppel

When i found time to playtest.... i found out that:

Divine Wrath is strong! And a good sidedeck option. From Baha's SS decklists, i noticed that the Junk Doppel players all sided at least one copy of Wrath. This is probably due to Herald of Orange Light or something, and because it is spell speed 3. Very useful. Maindecking is probably not a good idea though.

Enemy Controller in the maindeck is also good! :)

In Junk Doppel, it really reminds me of Brain Control, an incredibly broken card. The best thing is that its chainable and i like it best when my opponent Herald Orange my monster, i sac mine for theirs and still can do something for the turn :) Its quite versatile this format.

Been testing Dualities too. A lil wtf i know but the consistency boost is good, since im not running the Twilight-ish variant with Tragodias, and 2 Sorcerors.

Its just that i fear opening with Call of Haunted, 2x Sorceror and a bunch of other dead stuff in hand which have no synergy with each other. However, i will try testing them soon despite not being too appealing to me.

Junk Doppel has been amazing with Drill Warrior around, i feel like Avarice was not even touched on the list at all lol.

Notes:
2 Card Troopers and no Rykos FTW! Maxed Sirocco and Vayus to maximize speed and the probability of generating OTKs. 2 Grephers for easier OTKs. No Sangan b'cos he's too slow.

3 Pots for easier and faster combo-setups (I usually side 1 out in game 2 and 3). My Pots have changed my hand from bad to good in many occassions!

1 Heavy and 2 MSTs is just awesome! (much better than 3 MSTs). Haven't dropped Mirror Force b'cos it's still a game-changer for me. No Starlight Road in main b'cos it's too situational.

1 Prison and 1 Warning to balance things out (might be switching back to "good-old" 2 Warnings or something else but will decide after more playtests).

I chose Call of the Haunted over Return from the Different Dimension (RftDD) b'cos RftDD has been more of a bad draw for me so far and paying half my LP for a big push is often too risky. Hence, I've decided to drop it. Call is just awesome with Trooper and Knight of the End!

I've recently replaced Chimeratech Fortress Dragon with Tiras for testing. (Example: I can use a Sirocco/Cyber Dragon and a Puppet Plant'd Shi En to Exceed Summon Tiras). Will include Empty Space Sea Serpent Levaiel if I manage to find an extra slot.

Not sharing my Side Deck b'cos it's a secret!

Now, yesterday i was discussing Card Trooper and Ryko with Sean and we both agreed how good Card Trooper was.

Notice that Sean doesnt run Ryko. The reasons are:

1) Its alot slower than Trooper

2) Its easily destroyed before you can mill.

3) You can only mill once. With Trooper, anybody can mill, attack, set up a BTH to protect it and repeat next turn.

4) Ryko is a 1 for 1, while Trooper is a +1 . Which many do not realize. Because you can mill, then pump attack to attack over your opponents monster (assuming this of course), and then when your opponent destroys it next turn, you get to draw a card.

Strangely, i love Card Trooper, but hate Ryko in my Junk Doppel. Now i know my personal wish for next banlist: Card Trooper to 3!

Played Against Michael Bonacini from Death Aspect

Uploading from my Ipod now, so gonna be a short post. It was very good game =)

i opened with dustshoot, and 2 mystic shine balls in hand.

first time i played the deck, as i used my teammate's variants and concept, as i wanted to get the feel of playing the deck, since all i did was watch amir and andrew go gantetsu every game

Their build sacrificed Christia in favour of the TG cards to make it more consistent.

Props of the day

1) Michael Bonacini's deck is a really solid TCG deck. As expected, the game stalling with Faders and Valleys are good.

2) 40+ min game is crazy.

3) Played decently with TG Agents on first try. I think i overextended at one or 2 points. Like going into Gachi Gachi number 2 for fun

Cons of the day:

1) Didnt get to draw a single Hyperion even with 2 cards from the sky, and 3 dualities. The only one near the top of my deck was removed from play with Necroface.

2) Followed TGG rulings so got Tour Guided. Agreed. Imbal. Nothing much i can do if people Veiler me then Tour Guide me and next turn search another Veiler.

Now lets compare OCG and TCG.

TCG broken thing is Tour Guide into no 17 Revise Dragon beatstick and search Veiler.

OCG broken thing is Venus into Gachi Gachi and sit there with 2000 attack beatstick. Many players includin me are already complaining about that, so we can see how much worse the TCG has it than us.

edit: i posted this, the day before the rulings were revised, so pls stop telling me that i posted wrong info about the rulings.

now, since the rulings are properly nerfed, expect agent angel to be the next meta in tcg too. there will be pros learning to abuse gachi gachi now

On DN i got raped by econ, when playtesting with shamir, (refer to andrews blog), i had reborn, collosal, and heavy storm and was ready to go for game next turn but shamir flipped econ and took my collosal, dropped his hyperion, and attacked with his own collosal + mine for game.

Im sorry too lgq, for some reason everytime im online, i had to reject your duel request because was already playing with shamir =(

mind crush is good too. I think its maindeck worthy this format.

Also, i cant really find a good way to take out Agents this format besides Mind Crush, Veiler and the only 2 other things i can think of is Karma Cut and Divine Wrath but they are both -1s, so hmm.

The Light Imprisoning Mirror is situational and i dont like it because it is too prone to MST

Sad everybody is now gonna be playing Agents.

Im stopping X Sabers because Sabers< Agents. You need Emmsblade and Darksoul to jump start the game and getting both in the grave to search combo pieces all need your opponents interactions. By the time they attack, they would have Venus + Gantetsu resolved already and then my opponent will just get ready to drop Hyperion. Really imbal there. They dont even need Christia lol

Gonna switch to Junk Dopple this format. Mainly because:

1) Everyone else is playin Agents so it is more fun to play the deck which has less players. Agents are dead cheap so ya everyone will be playing it. Even in tourneys, to be safe, i would go with TG Agents

2) Price of everything has dropped drastically except Quasar. Invest!

3) The deck has massive synergy

Got a solid build from deckbuilding and solitairing hands/ plays yesterday. Just needa obtain the cards only.

Yeah yeah you notice the 1 Solemn Warning. lol. Remember, this was just testing stage, and i was trying to find the right balance between cards that interfered with your opponents monsters and MSTs.

So yeah, im giving up on this deck.

It should be pretty good. Going 50-50 against TG Agents piloted by 2 top players is pretty good :P Decide to focus on a deck that is legal for Asian format, whereby promos aren't legal.

Umm only 2 Rabbit cos targets are limited. Dont know what else to run without hindering the decks consistency. You basically dont even need Rabbit, its just a good support. Avarice at one only, so conserve it for your Rabbits.

Gale the Whirlwind cos it can half attacks and thats useful plus its stats are suitable , level 3 tuner , dark monster etc.

After Beta stages, i tested it out recently on DN

VS TG Agents (amir)

results: 1-1

both games we win using BLS. 1st game he exceed gachi , i top bls, and he hyperion but i monster reborn bls. conserving helps =)

second game i gg-ed to bls.

VS TG Agents (andrew)

results : 1-1

first game won due to bls again. second game lost due to kristia + hyperion

was going into a 3rd game, and had pretty good stuff to do but my comp blackout -.- unreliable electric company. 1 hour in the dark sucks. ran to car to cool off.

2-0 . did lots of stuff ftw. couldnt rmbr

still havent tested vs dw, but i reckon after i side, i will win the next 2 games :P

i need to +1 more sorceror to 2 sorceror. boss monsters rock and stuff that can take care of hyperion + grapha for free rocks.

My only preference fix would be -1 tuning for 1 lonefire or 1 debris. I reckon Baha doesnt use lonefire or debris because of Veiler + Orange Light.

Discussing Compulsory Evac Device and X sabers

Did some testing and theory-ohs. Why do i think its bad?

1) Does nothing against Agents. Return their Hyperion and Kristia is funny since it does nothing. Maybe slows it down a while only.
Sure you can hit Gantetsu sometimes but then its not hard to get rid of it with Sorceror, BLS etc. If you really wanted to take care of the threat of Gantetsu, you should take care of the Venus and Earth first.

2) Does nothing against LS. Returning their monsters are pointless.

3) Does nothing vs DW. Return their stuff to their hand to use again?

So, since this card can only handle 50% of the top tier decks, i wouldnt use it. Furthermore, it cant hit the stronger half of those top tier decks so ya. Sorry on posting on Compulsory being viable earlier.

In the TCG i find X Sabers being a viable deck because Exceed summoning 2 Darksouls into Revise and removing Darksoul to pull off its effect is decent. Sure its not as good as Tour Guide but it could be solid :D

Andrew pointed something out to me a few days ago.

Didnt Roy St Clair top SJ Nashville a few formats ago which was LS-heavy with x sabers? :D

Just a thought if LS becomes the meta.

May be fine because Sabers are solid (50-50) against Angels but slightly bad vs DW.

Discussing Quickdraw Synchron and BF Gale the Whirlwind

The first card is BF Gale and the reason i wanted to bring this up was because Gale can avoid BTH and its good because in a non heavy trap format, you can summon it and run over one of any of your opponent's bigger monsters.

We all know how good Gale is because it can destroy an imbal setup of BTH + Stardust.

Being a tuner is really good too and being dark lets you load the grave.

The second card i wanted to discuss is Quickdraw Synchron.

Baha did a really good version of Junk Dopple and i advise anyone interested in the deck to check it out. Consistent,

Normally, i would not even touch Junk Dopple or a deck like that because of its reliance on Ryko, but after a discussion with Baha yesterday, it made me realise that Quickdraw could go into Drill Warrior which is the next best thing to Pot of Avarice.

Because having constant access to Effect Veiler and boss monsters sounds really good. You can mill and dump your monsters and retrieve them and the best thing is that few traps out there are gonna stop you.

Might find a way to abuse Drill Warrior Hmmm!

So, criteria for top decks this format!

1) Must be able to take on DW and Agents

2) Preferably running BLS and Sorcerer to fuck Grapha and Hyperion

3) Must generate advantage consistently

4) Must be versatile and not reliant on one or two monsters to setup. Probably because 1 Veiler or Orange Herald and your dead.

Nah i know LS is hard to match once LS gets good mills and gets itself going and thats why we have the sidedeck for that lol.

Discussing the Viability of BTH

In a speed format where 3 msts are everywhere, lets discuss Bottomless Trap Hole.

The bad thing about this is obviously you setting this card as the only card and it dies to MST quite easily.

But what if your opponent doesnt have MST? Its still a decent card.

It works similarly to people sayin Dark Armed and BLS can still be Solemn-ed and Bottomless-ed but they are still broken nevertheless.

The reason why i want to discuss this card over Warning is because BTH is solid VS Agents and LS, and Warning has a hefty lp cost while this does not, making it very practical so that you dont die to 2 JD in your next few turns.

VS Agent Angels this card is still important to take care of Hyperion and Kristia. You CANNOT rely on Veiler to negate Hyperions effect because being a 2800 beatstick still helps a lot, and it gets alot better in a format like this.

Furthermore you could run the risk of setting 2 cards and risk Heavy Storm or risk having a 50/50 removal by MST.

The strange thing is that in Malaysia here, we have had people running 2 MST and another copy of Dust Tornado already last format (probably due to the DW matchup), so it may or may not make a difference.

VS LS, you can activate this in response to Lylas to remove them from play still. At least opponent lost a normal summon, lost the ability to mill, and since it was banished, it will not facilitate JD. Its always good to ruin LS' setup a lil

The same thing applies here with Hyperions because you cannot hope to Veiler your opponents JD and BLS or Sorcerors, because they are still solid beatsticks. So, it leads us to think if BTH really should not be removed from our maindecks or not.

What do you think?

Of course, this post is more focused on the OCG, compared to the TCG, but it still applies both ways since LS/ Twilight and Agents are gonna be big everywhere in both metas.

I would like to hear your opinions.

I cannot call on either side yet because both pros and cons kinda balance each other out. Maybe cons outweigh the pros a lil bit since BTH dies to DW.

I think extensive testdecking is required.

Everyone has discussed the banlist already. No point for me to do it again.

yeah its gonna be a stupid speed format. Heavy storm to 1 was good, but mst to 3 is really..... errr... lol. if it wasnt bad enough, breaker the magical warrior was starting to gain popularity again..

LS dominance bla bla bla. 7 boss monsters is retarded. Beckoning Light into Honest, JD and BLS -_-

I have started to maindeck 3 effect veiler and switched my Bottomless Trap Holes for DD Crows already to prepare for the new format =) Modded the Rabbit deck already. Looks good! Works well, and 2 Tragodia and 1 Gorz ensure that i will not be able to be OTK-ed.

So yeah, 2 Tragoedia and Gorz is Konami's answer to being OTK-ed.

Tour Guide Plants in TCG is gonna be even better.

Crow is still handy vs non speed decks like GB and Scrap and BF and good vs DW, LS etc.

One thing i like is that Duality wasnt touched.

Top tier decks (0 - 1.5) this format:

It is impossible to get away with setting BTH and Warning at all this format because of 3 mst staple etc. The only way left to deal with this is either quit the game, play LS/ Twilight or play with Veilers and Crows.

Veiler stops your opponents monster effects for a turn so that you can take care of it next turn. Veiler is a staple now everywhere, in the TCG and even in the OCG. Too many annoying boss monsters around

Crow is good tech too. Transmigration Prophecy too. Chainable, annoying and versatile.

I really pity the TCG players because of Tour Guide and Tengu. I doubt Tengu is gonna be semi-ed because Kevin Tewart obviously likes it (mentioned in a post) and Konami decided to hit Plants extra hard instead to stop Tengu Plants.

Initially i wasnt gonna post up the list because i wanted to play it as a competitive deck but since im gonna be passive in Yugioh competitive plays until December, who cares, just post.

So far, i have not seen anyone playing the deck competitively or casually so i assume the deck is still new to most ppl.

So, i was bored last night and i wanted to try something new and since i missed the old Yugioh times, i wanted to play something random like Plants, which could reflect skill, or something like Goat Control etc.

I wouldnt play Plants because in the OCG, we have to play Ryko Lightsworn Hunter and if you have been reading this blog for a while, you would know how much i personally dislike Ryko. Its not a bad card, its just the milling which i dislike. severely. lol.

So, i remembered Clarence's AKB so i decided to mod the deck and test it without Rykos. So since there are no Rykos, i cut out his Hamsters. I could tell his Hamsters were to first turn Trishula consistently, but i cut it out nevertheless.

Rykos were okay but i cut them for Effect Veiler for more randomized play and to provide more options. Veiler is very necessary versus DW which relies greatly on Fabled Raven. (most have cut out Dealings because of the mirror match)

Aside from that, Spy + Spy + Veiler = Trishula too so its all gooood. Having access to more tuners besides level 3 ones are better anyway.

I would have to comment that Rescue Rabbit in here is not as broken as Rescue Cat was when it was still around. Although Rabbit is strong generally because it can summon Ragia and Quasar with ease, but lets look at Rabbit from the AKB point of view.

I honestly feel its not as strong as Cat because its targets are more limited. You only have 3x Genex Controllers, and if you draw bad and draw 2 in your starting hand, then Rabbit will be potentially dead until you can draw off Pot of Avarice, which the odd are low.

Rabbit's targets are fewer and Genex Controller is not as strong as Airbellum. When Arcanite clears the field, the only thing Genex Controller can do is attack and deal damage while Airbellum last time could become a Spirit Reaper.

The only reason Controller is better is that you can Chimeratech Fortress if your opponent has Cyber Dragon and its a target for Allure, but whatever!

Since many are speculating that BLS will be unbanned next format, my secret wish to play this deck is to be able to play BLS. If it doesnt, nvm, theres still dark armed =)

Breaker is my bitch and i have liked the card since i abused it in DW, and look! its a spellcaster and its level 4. Arcanite food, and fodder for Roach etc.

The deck has so MANY options and with 2 or 3 cards in hands, i can access at least 3 or 4 different plays which i love so much. Well its not counted if i draw Bottomless and Warning hand.

For example, i could open with Veiler, Rabbit and Spy and i can choose to go Trishula next turn, or go Arcanite next turn with a Veiler to stop opponent's plays.

Duality makes the deck incredibly consistent too.

I know i said i hated Ryko, but then i was just messing around with this build. If you count the number of cards, there are 41 cards and Ryko is the 41st. So i will probably cut it out or something.

Besides, i would personally run 41 cards in this deck so i dont draw into double Controllers so often lol. But then thats what testing is for.

Just realised i forgot to include Giant Trunade. lol.

At the same time, i wish good luck to our reigning champion Galileo De Obaldia, whom i think is one of the best players in the game, and also to Malaysia's representative Sam Kee. All the best.

This card is getting to be a problem card much like Icarus Attack, Book of Moon, Deity of the Snake Offering, and Gemini Spark.

All these cards are annoying and can cause tempo change in the game because it disrupts your combos and in the hands of a good player, it can gain alot of advantage.

Solution:

Run Forbidden Lance or Trap Stun

Lance is very versatile like Book because it can ensure your combos get through and in decks like Sabers, it is very versatile. It can also help you run over an opponent's card. It neutralises Phantom Beast Horn's effect and further decreases your opponents monster by 800 attack.

Stun is good because if samurai decreases in number next format (like whats happening now), then it will be more relevant than 7 tools.

Anyhow, both can be chained to DW Lightning so your opponent will be less one discard option.

Im gonna test a new deck out now =) ciao.

Why TG > DW

OKay before i start the post, i noticed Fish and Swaps and Painful Return from TCG GENF box, credits to Johann's blog who pointed it out or it will be a month before i actually look up on the new exclusives for the box.

Fish and Swap is too good lol. Having it around means banishing Treeborn Frog is useless now. God damnit! Due to this, please limit it -.-

And as of yesterday, i stopped playing DWs officially because i dislike the deck (lol) and i traded if off for a 2nd X Saber deck which is good trade fodder.

Okay, so on to the actual post.

So, basically its because :

1) TG is immune to Grapha and DW Lightning. Since all their cards have Darksoul effects or Card Trooper replacing effects, this means that no matter what, Grapha and Lightning will not gain plusses off destroying them. In fact, DW Lightning will be a -1 for your opponent and Grapha becomes a 1 for 1 only (assuming they revive him)

2) TG is fast. They summon Wonder Magician easily to destroy Gate of DW, and although it is easy for your opponent to access more Gates, they only have 3 Gates so they have to conserve it well because you also have access to MSTs and other stuff. Wonder Magician is better than Hyunlei against the DW matchup because Wonder Magician is easier to set up. To pull off a successful Hyunlei, you need Boggart + Fullhelm + Faultroll OR Boggart + Pashuul OR you need to have Darksoul/ Emmersblade on field and a Fullhelm in hand.

The conditions are easier so yeah. Wonder Magician also balances its loss no matter what if it dies next turn (95% likely)

3) TG1- EMI and Horn of Phantom Beast. 2 of these cards are key cards to TG. Notice that Horn is an trap that turns into an equip spell. When they try to DW Lightning your card, and you flip it face up, so your opponent loses Lightning.

The same goes for TG1- EM 1, its easy for them to target it, but you can chain it so your opponent cant discard via Lightnings effect

TG1- EM1 lets you take control of Grapha too, which is very useful. No access to Grapha = weaker DW.

4) Amount of advantage gained is equal. While DW can pull off ridiculous combos with Morphing Jar and Card Destruction, TG gains advantage quite consistently through Horn of the Phantom Beast. Horn is useful because if you can pull off an early game Naturia Beast backed up by Horn, you will have won the game (unless your opponent has Raven or Morphing Jar), but thats what we run Solemns for :)

5) Its easier to sideboard against DW too because DW can just be removed from play with Crow, and Crevice.

Another useful card to consider is Banisher of the Light (note: Not Banisher of Radiance!! its a different one), which is the 2000 defence one. 2000 defence in the early game = opponent cannot beat over it.

Unless he has Gate + Bronn (who the heck runs it besides me last time)
Or he runs Goldds and Sillvas (most already realise they suck so no one runs it)

Its harder to side against TG too because there is no definite side card besides Trap Stuns or Royal Decrees to take care of the above 2 traps.

The Fate of Heavy Storm

If Konami doesnt unban Heavy Storm,

then, there will be

1) a skilless meta. because everybody can just come and set 4 to 5 backrow and not worry about overextension etc.

2) more diverse format. because many decks survive due to being able to control well and because of their backrow.

3) slower + more control format. Speed and fast decks will still be there. but not that strong but still decent.

4) more high chance for less powerful players to top. Format is more focused on deck type. Skill is still important though.

5) Newer players/ less skilled ones will be happy but then the older, more skilled players will fret.

Now let's look at it from a different perspective shall we?

If Heavy Storm is unbanned,

1) everyone will go back to setting 1 or 2 cards only

2) less overextension anywhere

3) control decks will be less powerful. they will still be around because we have Starlight Road. However it is damn obvious if your opponent has Starlight or Solemn set cos no one will set 3 to 4 backrow without those.

4) Format will speed up like hell and may become retarded. DW decks will become more ridiculous. Lightning into Grapha, special summon? wtf? LS and those Rabbit decks will become ridiculous too. You just need to waste one card to bait out whatever your opponent has on the field, and once your done, your free to self touch all over the field.

5) Majority of the skilled + older players will be more happy, at least for the start of the format. Noober players will have less chance of topping.

6) Black Luster Soldier and Chaos Sorceror will be even more ridiculous

7) Format becomes a lil less diverse. Speed decks will be the trend.

8) People will start complaining all over again

Oh Konami, what on earth are you gonna do ! lol.

Personally, im gonna start remaining neutral about this topic.

Allow me to explain. Basically everything in the current OCG meta will drop to tier 1.5

I can almost predict the format will be a speed-ish format if Solemn Warning gets limited.

So, why is everything tier 1 of this format, suddenly drops down to tier 1.5 next format?

Basically because of Dark World Dark World Dark World.

Once again, Konami has made a new broken ass theme that should be played everywhere.

The combination of DW Lightning + Grapha fucks up every single anti meta strategy there is no matter if it is Hero Beat, or WWBF, or even X Saber!

X Saber wont really be tier 1, sadly, because if you set Darksoul or Emmersblade, your opponent will just Lightning and Grapha it, regardless what it is. If you wanna avoid DW Lightning, you need to normal summon Emmesblade face up, but then your opponent can just Grapha it. Once the deck cannot access other cards from your deck, like Faultroll then you will GG.

Nothing in X Saber can get over Grapha either unless you have Faultroll, Boggart, tuner in hand ready
This means i have alot of modding to do for my lovely Sabers =)

Then they have access to either Breakers or Rykos to further simplify every single move the control player wants to take advantage of.

Oh yeah, Grapha is a problem card alright.

TG is gonna be fine because its searching options keep them alive to DW. It isnt as broken as DW but it has sort of decent matchups versus DW if you manage to outspeed them. If you drop a Stardust backed up by a BTH, you can safely control the field. Wonder Magician is good to control your opponent's Gates etc. And Power Gladiator is a decent card

I chose Frog Monarch because this deck has the BEST matchup vs Dark world. haha no further explanation needed.

Lightlords is a pure assumption as we can almost predict the unbanning of Black Luster Soldier. BLS + Beckoning Light = LOL

I actually think Karakuri that DS built has potential to top because of its speed and non reliance of trap cards.

Gadget Offering seems decent too as they have the power to outspeed DW. Any deck that can outspeed DW should do decently.

I put 6 sam in tier 1.5 because although they make Shien, it is easy for DW to have multiple discard fodder. you can negate my Lightning but can you negate my Dealings? You can negate my Grapha in vain with Magatama but can you prevent an attack when i special summon it back? Even if your opponent is lucky enough to prevent all this in one turn, how will they be able to survive next turn when all their resources are depleted.

GKs are there because there still will be ppl playing them and Royal Tribute is good vs any deck except DW. DW is Konami's answer to Royal tribute and if you think you can go into any tourney with Royal tribute you should think again, because your chances of meeting DW is going to be very high because the deck is cheap, and many people will be thinking the exact same thing.

Grave BF is there because it is too slow vs DW and other decks are WWBF and Hero Beat are self explanatory.

Agent Angels + Machina < DW and we all know that already.

I didnt mention Junk Dopple as i am unsure how Konami will hit it. It may stay strong, it may not.

Reborn Tengu variants in the TCG will still rule. Blek.

So, the new tech card of the new format? DD Crow!! Or Transmigration Prophecy.

This card will fuck DW and says no to Lightlord, Frog Monarch etc.

It can even screw Sabers but i think that is irrelevant because i can just exceed Leviair the Water Serpent and bring my Darksoul back.

This might very well be the new Effect Veiler for OCG.

Anyway do you think it is too early for me to write this?

I dont think so, the new banlist is gonna be out in 2 to 3 weeks time.

First of all, I would like to justify that I think TG Hyper Librarian is totally bad card design, is crazy, and i am totally for it being banned (as i have stated lol)

This part of the post is a reply to Baha's post :)

However i do think that although Tg Librarian is crazy, i think Konami will only limit it. Im aware that the reasoning i gave about "TCG just got it" is not a solid one but nevertheless it is one.

What i am sceptical about is that Konami Japan (OCG) and Konami USA (TCG) are also Konami and they should both look out for each other nevertheless. Konami's aim is to draw profits and i think they will limit it so the TCG can make more money out of it.

I am aware it is an SJ promo and i may be talking out of my ass here (so correct me if im wrong lol) and i do not know how deals are carried out between SJ US and Konami since SJ was given the rights to print the card so i guess its not really a Konami product?

Urmmm i just dont think it will be banned, however if it does get banned, i am also happy nevertheless like all of you others =)

I also realised that yesterday i forgot to talk about Grapha. Its amazing and those who do not think much of Dark World probably have not faced off against good DW players or good decks which is a very likely possibility. It is probably the best monster , even better than Caius, Machina Fortress and Hyperion. Like LGrunty said, its silly since it makes any DW monster in your hand a floater and a +1. Consistent 3000 atk beatstick is not fun if your playing against it.

But, its not gonna be touched. Yet :p But it should, it should !

At the same time, talking about BLS. Yeah guess it is unhealthy for the game. But! Konami has shown too many signs about bringing BLS back to the game.

1) Reprint in GS TCG
2) Sorceror coming back @ 1, 2, 3 last few times.
3) Rumours from DGz, Pojo etc
4) Quite alot of new light support from Photon Shockwave?
5) Kevin Tewart's dumbass remark about Tengu and diversity in the game etc. Maybe he wants to promote more "diversity"

Also, i will have to retract Reborn Tengu from my list yesterday for the part of "what Konami would do"

Obviously it should be semi-ed lol but Kevin Tewart has shown signs that he doesnt intend to limit Tengu from his post on Pojo which you can find @ the Death Aspect Blog. At the moment, my computer is retarded and i cant comment on Michael B's post so i will just say it here that it was a 10/10, a must read, and he shot Kevin Tewart down in every point/aspect. Sadly, i dont think Konami TCG is gonna care.

So, i can almost believe that Konami wont touch alot of random good stuff that makes Tier 1 decks Tier 1 because Konami thinks that the format is healthy and diversified bla bla

Im only okay okay with the whole format because i still dont like what YGO has become, whereby the skill level has dropped. When you see cards like Breaker, DD Warrior Lady, Sangan which were considered definite staples in the past , dropped for new broken cards of broken synergious theme cards, you just know that something wrong with the game. Or we have come to the point of the game where Chaos Sorceror is not even broken anymore.

Urmm explanation time,

Giant trunade banned- too strong card. wipe field and clear and rape that turn. Even Storm is not invincible because of Judgment, and ppl going to the extent of maining Starlight Road.

Limit Break- refer to michael bonacini's explanation. otk card, no deck should be allowed to have a card which can potentially deal 8k damage in a turn. somewhat like DSF. the drawback of this card having to destroy monsters at end of turn is a joke because you won the game already. Dont tell me your expecting your opponent to open Waboku.

Monster Reborn- alot of theme support revival. I dont really mind it around, but i think it should go. It is quite okay since Konami always gives us one copy of a really powerful card to include in our decks, and i stil think Brain Control was far worse than this card. Im having mixed feelings about this card though. I dont think Konami will do this, but then i wont mind having it banned, neither will i mind it staying around.

I didnt include Future Fusion because i dont think Konami will ban it. They do not think the inconsistency on Future Fusion reliant decks is an issue lol. I didnt include Gorz for personal biased reasons and also i dont think Konami is gonna do something like this after leaving it at one. Like i said, Konami will leave us one or two broken cards to fool around with. Not every deck can use Gorz anyways. It would be sad if they ban it since here in Asian format, its not legal, and we never got to use the card xD

Semi Limit:

GK Spy is sort of a personal pick because i think GKs gain too much advantage here and there, and also because Spy is an instant Necrovalley through Recruiter into Commandant. Urmm. Its just good. Even in other non GK decks, AKB decks can use it well too. I dont mind if i get flamed on this choice. 90% personal

LSS Shien- Six Sam is still bonkers if they successfully resolve this guy. I believe he should be like Black Rose. Play one and lose him. Unless you use DEST. and Monster Reborn. DEST should not be allowed to make multiple Shiens and even with 1 shien, you can still open up with Smoke signal or the materials to synchro shien and still pull him off.

Formula synchron- self explanatory. still at 1 because its yuuseis ace card and nobody wanna use Recipro Dragonfly. Many Pot of Greeds in a Junk dopple deck with Librarian around.

TG Hyper Librarian- as much as i think it should be banned, I think Konami will not make such a drastic move straight away. Usually, they will "test the waters" and leave it at one first. lol. still new in TCG so i dont think they will ban it so quickly..

BLS MSTB- This is probably gonna be the most crucial part of the banlist because it will be getting everybody's attention.

Ppl are gonna realise soon that BLS is not that splashable and even if we try to make Light Dark decks, its hard to fit it in well without sacrificing much synergy. I admit there is Twilight LS decks, but Konami will probably want to increase deck diversity.

Furthermore, its still Solemn-able and able to be Bottomless-ed. Many of Konami's actions have reflected their intentions to bring back BLS because of its release in TCG Gold series, and i have a feeling it will be reprinted somewhere in OCG, if not in Gold Series next year.

They have also been testing the waters with increasing the numbers of Chaos Sorceror consequently for the past few banlists. This is Konami's mentality- "lol okay its just a bigger Sorceror lol lol lol"

Im also having mixed feelings about this card. I would love to see it back, because its one of my favourite monsters, but i know it may be unhealthy for the game. I dont think anybody has actually decided to have a testing session with their friends by trying out BLS against meta decks and seeing if it is too broken or not. I have no time for that but i would love to hear from readers if they do try it =)

Heavy Storm + MST = self explanatory. Michael Bonacini has repeated it too many times.

Royal Tribute- I dont know what Konami thinks of this card. Its an auto win vs almost every deck except Six Sam and Dark World, and i fear that DW was Konamis answer to Royal Tribute. Use DW or else you will get Royal Tributed. Take the damn risk. I have a feeling Konami wont even touch it at all, but the most they will do is probably cut it down to 1 in my opinion, as Crush Card was at 1 too.

Pot of Avarice- self explanatory. both personal and professional because honestly who isnt annoyed to see plant duelists play avarice and draw 2 cards and pull off either Junk Synchron or Debris Dragon in late game. lol. Even worse, TCG players keep seeing Tengu.

Solemn Warning- They should totally limit this because its too splashable. You want answers, just main BTH or Veiler. Judgment was limited so should this. I hate it when i try do something and lose it to Warning consequently 2 turns in a row lol and my opponent keeps setting up. If you Warning me 2 turns in a row, i think i will lose if i do not have Warnings also lol.

Limit to 2:

Dewloren- lol.

Tengu- LOL.

Destiny Draw- something that should be done but will not be done. Konami has ignored this already i think.

Back to 3:
Bottomless Trap Hole- It became much much better again when Konami took away priority. Seems like its a step taken so that ppl use more BTH so they can limit Warning.

Any other extra cards like magic stone excavation marshmallon etc i couldnt care less good night and thank you for reading :)

YuGiOh = RuGiOh???

This post is a pun on the name Yugioh because for those who know BM or BI (bahasa malaysia or bahasa indonesia) you will know the word Rugi means "to make a loss".

Alot of things about Yugioh has been very clear. Konami will print broken cards with high rarities and then reprint them as commons or easy to get cards.

In the OCG, we have gold series and structure decks to obtain previous hard to get Vjump or DT foils, or certain hard to get foils. such as allure of darkness, catastor bla bla bla.

which makes us wonder again if we should be spending so much on the game if we are not competitively playing each week, and we do not intend to top every single sanctioned tournament there is.

I made this post after seeing how many have complained that Kristia was not a reprint in the recent SD for the TCG but then it was reprinted in one of the collector tins.

And in the TCG, there are all sorts of awesome sets that are benefiting players now.

The recent tins, GENF special editions and Legendary Collection 2 all look pretty good to me.

Since this is all Konami's clever marketting scheme to attract lots and lots of profit! But who can blame them since they need to do something to survive in today's economy especially in the gaming industry.

We cant really complain that they are sucking the TCG players cash dry since its better to pay a small amount for a Duality rather than $150 or so. So, technically, if you didnt own Dualities initially, you wont be forking so much money. Konami makes profits, so both parties win =)

Players who did have Dualitys cant complain either because usually, they would have used them to a great extent already (and won some tourneys cos of it) or they are rich and have good amount of trade fodder/ profit, so it wouldn't matter much to them anyway. Players who forked out $450 out for 3, and spent all their dough on it, before reprints were confirmed are just sad then.

Now im just sceptical why the hell Konami OCG arent doing anything special to help us more >=(

Its been a freaking long time since we had a Collector's Tin, or had Special Editions like last time there were BPT tins released each year, and we had those suitcases collections with promo cards like Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon or the 5 Exodia parts. What happened to all the support for the OCG?

Sure there are Vjump subscriptions and some other stuff but then its not much useful to us since we cant subscribe to Vjump, and they are pricey if you search them from Malaysian sellers, and they arent even legal for play here. Which confines our card pool to just packs, and structure decks? Which kinda sucks lol.

I want them promo tins again =(

Yesterday i tested out Arcanite Rabbit Beat. It was good. Its still good and it is quite similar to the previous Cat synchro. Clarence made a great deck. I don't know how it will survive in this format, but i think it should do decently, and im sure that if any tier 1 deck is gonna abuse rabbit, this is gonna be the number one deck.

I was considering to build it, but the deck didnt really suit my playstyle so oh well. I really hate Ryko Lightsworn Hunter! =( My mills are crappy. Which is one of the main reasons why i would not use it.

Rabbit as a Quasar summoning medium

Im not sure if most have already realised Rabbit is a Quasar summoner because it pulls off Quasar more consistently than Junk Doppel or Tengu Plants or any plant variant ever. Im not saying that the Plant decks are bad, but im saying you will get Quasar out the moment you draw Rabbit.

So, lets combine some current deck ideas, shall we?

1) Quasar beat
2) Ragia beat
3) Frog// water as a draw/deck thinning engine.

Sounds good? Can piece the deck together already?

PS: This is just a deck concept, i have no idea how consistent the deck can be, but i KNOW there are ppl capable and interested of building decks like this, and can perfect it, its just not me.

So we are using the Kabazauls + Moray engine that Michael Bonacini brought to light, because its SOO good and in my opinion, its the most important Rabbit combo so far (more important than the GB or the Genex Controller one too)

Why are we using this?

1) Kabazauls is water so Moray of Greed helps ease the hand clog.
2) Kabazauls is level 4. (more on that later)
3) Kabazauls is a dinosaur.

So, the Kabazauls engine goes 2 ways. lol. It helps you drop Quasar + helps you drop Ragia.

In order to do Quasar, you must have Treeborn Frog and Fishborg Blaster in the graveyard first.

So, we get them to the graveyard, by maining 3 Swap Frogs, 1 One For One, 1 Foolish Burial (basic stuff la)

And to make the deck more consistent, we run 3 Fishborgs so we see it often, and 2 to 3 Treeborn Frogs and run 2 Dupe Frogs (maybe), we run Morays, we can even try Hand Destruction!

And we need Rabbit.

Basically, you can see the combo already but i'll just write it out anyway.

Special summon Treeborn Frog, special summon Fishborg (Treeborns on field).

2) Summon Rabbit, go into 2 Kabazauls.

3) [Fishborg + Kabazauls] x2 = Hyper Librarian x2.

4) Fishborg + Treeborn = Formula + 2 librarian = Quasar.

Sounds good?

Recycle with Pot of Avarice for some fun here and there.

I noticed alot of ppl buying Cretosaurus (the SR dinosaur) and Ragias nowadays in Malaysia. I just want to point out Ragia is nothing like Shien and although it has the one time solemn judgment, its still pretty easy to play around (1000x easier than shi-en) and I'm sure all the sellers are happy buying Ragias cheap and selling them off for a high profit here.

I think the idea of a 1st turn Ragia from Rabbit is good, but its not so consistent, this has been proved by testing from Andew and Yung Kang.

I also think that Rabbit is crazily imbal, and tomorrow we will learn how to fully abuse Rabbit in its own deck (besides AKB from Clarence which looks good). Some of you may already know how to abuse Rabbit to the max, but we're taking it in a different direction tomorrow.

Now, i cant choose between BF or DW as my main deck for the remainder of the format. I know DW is a deck im good at, but I find BF so much more fun and so much more worthwhile. If there's anything like recreating the old format Yugioh, its using BF, cause the deck can allow so many mind games, and rewards skillful play and its great in the OCG where things arent Tengu derp Avarice derp.

My only problem with it is im paranoid about the DW matchup because DW totally wrecks BF (in my opinion). Maybe its just because my version is teched out for it with breakers and doesnt encourage overextension, but others are still playing over aggressive variants with goldd, sillva, and Raven. Which makes it so much easier for BF. However, im sceptical about the combo between Lightning and Grapha, and the speed of Gate.

I think i will go with BF for now and test, and just find out how to side effectively for DW. Which is actually easy. Crevice, Crow and end of story.

Speaking of DW, i feel Grapha is a lil overpowered and should be hit by the banlist in times to come. Its thousand times more powerful than Machina Fortress and Master Hyperion. I know each boss monster is searchable in some way but Grapha is a bit overboard with Gates, Broww, Snows, Dealings etc.

Deep Dark Trap Hole and Tribe Shocking Virus

Today i want to cover these two cards as sidedeck options. Mainly to beat the 2 structure deck decks, which are the Dark World deck and Agent Angels.

Deep Dark Trap Hole is a weird choice, some may say, but its very good when you go against Agent Angels since it takes care of the 2 main threats, Kristia and Hyperion.

At first, i was doubtful of DDTH's ability but Andrew told me that it was his MVP card when he took 1st place at Team Qualifiers in KL last week. Furthermore, he said that Shining Darkness turned out to be irrelevant and bad, which i has suspicions already, but then i guess we cant get 100% accurate prediction on a card's efficiency.

Many people were scouting this card once they saw how Team Monte Carlo (stupid name stupid show LOL) utilised it last week.

On paper, throretically, DDTH adds on 2 more BTH for you to destroy Kristia and Hyperion, and since there isnt any priority, its worth maining. Against DW, it destroys Grapha, but im doubtful about this since Grapha + Lightning probably will destroy DDTH already.

I have yet to test it, but oh what the heck.

Then recently Kyde asked me to cover Tribe Shocking Virus in a post.

This card is the best card for mirror match choices, and is a decent choice if you ask me. Its an easy advantage card, and against Angel, you can do so much, because Kristia cannot stop it. Removing my useless Shine Ball to kill oppponent's whole field?

Since its a monster, it can stop shien and is very useful in BF and Six sam mirror matches.

Gonna test it soon in tourneys.

Is officially the meta with it topping North American WCQ and doing so well in East Japan's nationals. TG Power Gladiator is super annoying !!!

abit wtf. but it just goes to show, a good archetype should not be underestimated and will take a while for it to settle, and seep into the meta. much like agent angels.

I noticed in Europe's WCQ, it did quite well too. I see Luke Lennard topping with X Sabers again with the very same decklist from last time (with minimal change), at least sabers arent all dead in tcg :s

Michael Gruner's list looked interesting too with mained maxx C's and Tour Guides, im in no position to comment because i have no idea how it works (been out of frame with TCG for a long time) so i'm hoping either Mike Bon or LFN does a review of his deck.

At the same time, I would like to give a shoutout to Rauzes, in response with his quittin of the game (for real this time i guess) and for popularizing yugioh blogs, and although my blog was older than yours, it was through your efforts that made many of us (including me) more passionate abt blogging 1.5 years ago. Other stuff i wanna say have been said by EVERYONE else already in FB or through blog posts or in his blog etc.

really good to see Offering Gadgets plus TG in the top 4. It has always been a good deck, just that no one played it.

Dark World topped too. More evidence that Beige > silva > goldd.

I traded off my Agent angels + gantetsu + 2 orange herald, for WWBF including 1 vayu, 2 asian eng SR sirocos, 1 SR armor master, 1 SR ams wing and other crucial stuff. Then i traded 2 raiohs for a SR ocg siroco. Good deal is good =)

Time to start playing WWBF for the 1st time :) the deck is still good.

And i also managed to get 3 Fragments of Greed, 2 shining darkness, 1 white knight illuminator so i dont think i will be touching PHSW anymore.

Ragia is a wee bit overrated. Its no where near shien, not even with Rescue Rabbit around because its effect only runs once, which isnt as good as shien's each turn effect. tested with it already. Your opponent can just summon it, and you play BTH, he negates, and you can run over Ragia easily next turn. Or a bunch of other stuff.

Shining Darkness

Just when i thought i was going to put Dark World away for good and make it my OCG tourney deck only, i saw this from the new box.

Release 1 Dark monster with 1500 or more attack and destroy all monsters special summoned this turn.

Definitely gonna get 3 of it.

The cost is honestly a joke.

In my DW, i run 3 Breaker, 3 Grapha, Bronns and Beiges.

Breaker on its own is already a floater who has gained me a plus one and possibly another plus one through battle. Tributing Grapha is like tributing for Eradicator Epidermic Virus.

And tributing Bronn and Beige is nothing too since they will just be used as Gate for DW fodder.

This card ensures a plus one, and is sorta a -1 (except with Breakers and Graphas) but it throws off your opponent's tempo the whole turn. He can try to special summon more but they will just ended up getting destroyed. (i think thats how it works?)

I will definitely side it or try teching it. Seems like a decent card to keep a playset of. Sort of like Debunk and Forbidden Lance.

The best decks to run this card in it probably GK and DW. Cost of tributing Recruiter or Spy with Necrovalley on the field is also quite funny...

No point for me to talk about Crimson Blader since everyone has discussed it already.

My first tourney report ever!

whew first time you saw me post a tourney report! Its been 4 or 5 years since i joined a tourney.

Deck used: Dark World
Results: 1st
No of participants: i dont know. 13 or 14 or 15 somewhere around there.
Format: Swiss 4 rounds, cut to top 4.

There were so many Yugioh players in Kuching today. Total numbers are like 20+ although some didnt join the tourney as they felt their deck wasnt ready.

Basically its monthly tournament held here whenever the supplier for East Malaysia, Martin Wong heads down here each month.

This was my first time playing dark world.

First round: Face Dark World mirror match.
Player: Fadly Ng

I started the game with Morphing Jar and Dark World dealings and passed without doing anything. His hand was quite dead too as i used Eradicator Epidermic Virus at one point and saw his hand was mostly dead stuff. Forgot what happened but the match played on for quite a long while but i took the 1st match. I Crowed his Goldd. I also remember seeing his hand was clear of DW monsters and i used Card Destruction or DW Dealings (couldnt remember). MVP of the day is mained Crows.

Second round, he won because he started the game and set 2 or 3 cards. I couldn't do anything because my hand wasn't that good. He proceeded to summon Bronn and attack to drop Goldd. I drew , and my hand became playable but he dropped Eradicator Virus and i couldnt do anything.

Third round and time was called. We were given sudden death 5 rounds. I did Gate stuff, dropped 2 Graphas somehow and then Monster Reborn his Bronn, at the last minute to OTK 8100 lifepoints at one go (Gate was on the field)

Second Round: versus Hero Beat
Player: Dominic
First round he won because my hand was not that good (fck table shuffling) he had an early turn Raioh and followed up with Stratos for advantage once i cleared Raioh. He literally Solemn Judgment-ed my DW lightning which was a good move..

second round i got a good hand and did Lightning- Grapha stunts and Breaker. Told you Light Beat would GG vs DW. Controlled his whole back row with Grenkappa too.

3rd round same thing. It took a long time so time was called, and another 5 round sudden death was decided but i dropped him down to 2200 with my life at 5500 and just passed and he drew but he couldnt do anything with only 2 cards left so i won.

Third match: versus WWBF
Player: Nathaniel Lau

First round i noticed he had macro cosmos when i DW Lightning-ed it. so i asked him if he sided and he said yes. I was like =.= So match restart. I double Warninged his Shuras and Siroco because he had Warning. I did Grapha stunts. He summoned Blizzard but Crow FTW. and killed him with 2 Eradicator Epidermic Virus taking everything he had. Flipped Morphing Jar. He drew 4 spell/trap cards gg.

Second round i read BTH so i bait it out by summoning Grapha and when he chained, i resolved Eradicator Epidermic Virus again and saved Grapha. Crow-ed his Sirocco. Control from there. Summoned Beige Vanguard of Dark World over and over again to bring back Grapha.

Fourth match: VS Infernity
Player: Teck King Yek

We decided to not duel since we were both guaranteed in the top 4. He wanted to see the other 2 players first before we submitted our scores. The 1st and 4th would duel and the 2nd or 3rd will play.

Turns out the 2nd place player would be an Agent Angel Player and the 4th player was a Nordics (??) player. So he wanted Nordics, and i didn't find Agents a problem so i was like sure yeah.

So, we settled on 2-1 in my favour.

Semi Finals VS: Phua Yu Wee
Deck: Agent Angels
He opened up with Venus going into Gantetsu and i was like >.> I controlled his field with Breaker and DW Lightning and Grapha. I did alot of mind games here and there, and he dropped Kristia. I DW Dealings dropped Grapha, and he had 5 angels in his grave, and he couldnt do anything as i swarmed with stuff.

Second round I breaker-ed , MST-ed and Lightning and destroyed everything, did alot of Gate stunts and won.

It was really funny hearing Kevin saying oh no satan deck prevails the whole way.

Finals VS Infernity

A quick recap: First match i won after quite a long time. I remember he dropped Steelswarm Roach and i destroyed it. I misplayed bad here because i monster reborned snow, cost it for Grapha and could have normal summoned Snow for game because he had 900 lp. Too tired >.>
However, still won next turn although he topdecked Infernity Archfiend i was like OMG. But I Crowed his stuff already so he couldnt abuse the stuff he searched. Remember that he Beetled into Gantetsu alot and that was really annoying.

Second match he started with a whole backrow full of stuff and i had not much answers to them, it was my turn to drop Inverse Roach but he got rid of it, i tried to use Gate for comeback because i had Broww and Grapha but he chained Infernity Break, GG

Third round was almost like 1st round i think but i controlled with Crevice and stuff. I remember using Duality to take Chain Disappearance and controlled with Warning BTH and DW monsters. Check video ! XD

First so took an Arcanite Magician and some boosters. Nothing much there.

Had to say my sidedeck today was the one that saved me.

I took out 2 BTH in favour of Crows the night before. Thank you Kyde for the reassurance as you were the only one awake at that time probably. They still came in really useful vs Light Beat and stuff.

I also cut out all the Goldds and Sillva bullcrap cos they clog alot. Replaced them with 2 Beiige which are 1000x better. Bronn is good because people dont really like to BTH him and i can just abuse him, and with Gate around he can run over Raioh at 2100 attack.

Three Dualities make the deck consistent and make my hands better. Similar to me running 3 Dualities in X Sabers. Also, thanks to LGQ who pointed it out or else i might have forgotten. They also make good fodder to side out. I usually side out 1 or 2 depending on the situation. Dualities help me get to my sided cards faster too.

Scarr is good because its a searcher so i dont lose anything since people keep thinking its a Morphing Jar. Scarr is easy food for Grapha's cost too. Its good to let it get destroyed, search Snoww, and next turn remove Scarr and discard Snoww for Gate's effect :)

Lastly, no Celri cos its bad.

Overall the deck is a really control build and doesnt focus on aggression at all although i only ran 4 traps.

Comments and feedback on the deck are welcome.

EEV is friggin imbal. Probably the only reason i will play DW for the rest of the format till we get Darksouls and Boggarts :)

Looks similar to my old variant except the guy runs Ryko instead of Breaker, and plays viruses instead of generic traps like Prison and Bottomless.

I dont really like the idea of Zephyros the Elite because i feel its just a redundant Beige Warrior of Dark World, so i think Glow Up Bulb is still better.

I like it that he runs a Trap version. Mind Crush is very good in here. Definitely should give it a try with everyone searching Machina Fortress and Venus here and there.

I would -1 of each virus, and run 2 Bottomless Trap Hole, or find a way to fit in BTH inside.

Finally DW gets the glory it deserves and not the crap names its been getting so far

My verdict is that if you run Ryko, you are entitled to run Night Assailant as well just in case you mill your Morphing Jar

Also, i would much rather run Lyla over Ryko because its not as slow and its Lightlord Breaker.

Im thankful for the Asian format

One of the reasons i feel thankful that the Asian format doesnt allow promos, is that it doesnt allow a whole lot of bullshitting with cards like Librarian etc.

Furthermore, i concocted this post after i read Michael Bonacini's post on Yugiohs dwindling skill gap, and that made me even more thankful that im in the OCG and not in the TCG with Tengus.

I like the fact that i'm in Malaysia too, because here, the whole tournament goes down to almost the same winners each time.

This means only the best top, but occasionally you do scrub even if you are good because of bad luck.

Take a look at the recent Nationals. The top 8 are your usual bunch of players with good credentials, and although there are alot of rumours about bribes and how the games in the top 8 played out, i can still say that the top 8 deserved their spots because they played well in the swiss and eliminations to get there. Each top 8 player had to go through weeks of shit, just to win.

Example is Andrew who played in about 4 or 5 qualifiers and didnt get first but he managed to win in the last qualifier.

Or Amir who had to go through the whole tournament on the real Nationals day, and made it to their top 4.

What i'm trying to say that in the OCG, and in the Asian format, skill is not totally gone, since promos are banned and there are no Tengus.

This contributed to the variety of different decks in the 16 decks that qualified for a spot in the top 32 on the real day

Over here, skill is the most important thing to have because it differentiates you from being a person who topped or a person who scrubbed.

I cannot say the same for the people who qualified for the remaining top 16 on Nationals because they could be Randy Savages or they could just have gotten lucky. They did not have to play against the best who have already qualified, so they could have just got there in pure luck. I dont mean to look down on these people as im sure there are a few truly good players, that do not have the chance to play in KL tournaments so they do not have credentials.

Because if you look at each and every tournament, the results are obvious since the same people always top. This means that the skilled always win.

In a retrospective view, this means that if a skilled player with deck X such as BF or Agents could lose the die roll, and play against a scrub player with Samurais who drops shien in turn 1, and still win from there.

That is why if you want to be good in Malaysia, i can safely say that you need to be a KL player who plays with the best. Im talking about people like Zack, Karl, Andrew, Wong Fei Hung (and the list goes on and on) with credentials, or play frequently at Sung Lee's card shop. I strongly advise people to spend time to meet Sung Lee's teammates as all of them are very good, frequent toppers, and skilled players and listen to their advice.

You shouldnt be happy if you play against a scrub, or choose to testdeck, and score x-0 just because you played a whole day's worth of scrubs.

I advise each Malaysian player to save up each year and visit KL at the end of the year to expand your dueling experience. You wont be at a loss, because KL is a big metropolis with awesome girls, good shopping facilities, and there are entertainment resorts like Genting or Sunway too. You can always take a trip down to Kinokuniya to purchase cheap cards as well as spend an hour in manga heaven, before going around shopping in KLCC a fucking big and awesome shopping centre. Of course, the prices of food and clothes there are atrocious but oh what the heck.

If you are fortunate, you could visit Singapore too because Singaporeans are even better players than we are, and the competitiveness there is scary (which is good) and the card prices there are cheap. Beginning of next year, when i'm dead free, i will visit Singapore. Hopefully, i can visit the place with a few friends and teammates, so I'll discuss it with Andrew, or LGQ, Sean or anyone i know.

However, there are players who are also non-KL players who are really good. These are the unfortunate bunch who do not have much chance to show their credentials.

So, aside from that, what do you have to do to be good in Malaysia?

The card prices here are crazily hyped, and i can say for sure with Clarence and Baha telling me that the cards i purchased were expensive by Singapore expectations, while in Malaysia its considered cheap. Thus, one must be able to control his/her budget well to succeed here.

Basically, if you see a good deal that you can profit from, just take it.

You should also have a wide range of contacts, as well as maintain good terms with them, to be able to obtain cheap prices or "friendly" prices, and trade well.

Besides that, i think each player should read blogs. There are so many blogs in the blogosphere right now which are good, or decent, be it TCG or OCG and they are ALL good reading material to expand your knowledge. I wouldnt go into this so much because grading blogs is a sensitive issue, in my opinion, but the usual suspects that people visit are Dueling Days, and Death Aspect

It doesnt take a really long time, maybe 20 minutes a day to catch up on the blog posts? On some days, there are so few updates that it wont even take up your time.

There are many players out there in Malaysia who are ignorant, obnoxious, and although i am not going to point fingers, some people know who i have in mind, and they make loud statements that clearly show only how much they know.

i can tell that skill is still intact, especially when he was playing Andrew.

So, conclusion-wise, i'm quite satisfied about Malaysian meta and Yugioh as a whole.

Of course, there are issues like card prices, but we have to accept that card prices will never drop here in Malaysia and its a survival of the fittest situation, whereby, if you are good, the prices affair will not even matter to you.

The second unresolved issue i think is the skill level, but that SHOULD improve as time goes by, provided we dont have stupid formats like Dark Dive Bomber format or Chaos Emperor Dragon-spam Yata decks. Hopefully, by the time Tengu reaches OCG, its craze should die down and plant decks will not be in trend anymore and Formula-Libarian gets fixed.

And from this post, i hope you Malaysians learn something =) (unless you are a player with credentials, and know all this already of course)

The "Fuck Konami Deep Deep" Post

Since Konami has not learnt their lesson from producing Rescue Cat, they have now produced Rescue Rabbit:

Effect:

This card cannot be special summoned from the deck. Banish this face-up card you control: Special Summon 2 Level 4 or Lower Normal Monsters from your deck with the same name. A monster special summoned by this effect is destroyed during the end phase. The effect of "Rescue Rabbit" can be activated once per turn.

Rescue Rabbit is much like Rescue Cat, so i expect its art to be a bunny with a miner's hat, and while Cat is great for synchro summoning (and Exceed summoning), Rescue Rabbit is used only for Exceed summoning, so its a one card exceed of choice rank 1/2/3/4

This is very similar to Tour Guide of the Underworld which makes Revise Dragon worth playing.

This could be relevant for Heroes because they can drop Sparkman and then use it as fodder for Miracle Fusion and making a first turn Roach and this card actually makes Utopia decent.

Other options include abusing X Saber Anupiranha (however you spell her name), so you can special summon two of her to the field and then drop Faultroll.

Playing those X Sabers means the deck has beat properties that allows it to function in 2 ways or more.

I dont think people are gonna spam Gemini Elves into their deck just to pull Rescue Rabbit off anyway :P

I also saw Fragments of Greed. Its effect goes like this:

Whenever you conduct your draw phase, put a greed counter on this card. You can remove ?? greed counters from this card and send this card to the graveyard to draw 2 cards from your deck.

Theres "??" there because Shriek has not confirmed this card's effect. Im confident this card will be incredible simply because its a draw 2 so its a plus one, and although it requires X number of turns, its still a plus one and a freaking Pot of Greed!

When Duality was released, people doubted it, but it became the most expensive competitive card in the game now. I expect this card to be something like that.

I dont see the number of turns on Fragments to be more than 2 or 3. If my opponent wants to waste his MST on it, just let him, at least he didnt blind MST my Warning or BTH so its still a win win situation :)

Also, fuck Konami even more because I just got news that X Saber Boggart Knight is Normal Rare (short print) in the OCG. FUCK FUCK FUCKITY FUCK. Now i definitely need to sell my TCG ones. Why dont they fucking make Recruiter the normal rare.

Sabers have officially joined the ranks of the most expensive decks in the game, considering it plays better with 2 to 3 Dualities.

Lastly, to all the players thinking of getting White Knight Illuminator, i dont think its worth it. 3 level 4 monsters? i rather drop Disigma, and even if i had 2 , i'll rather drop Roach anytime.

Different story for Asian format though, because the above cards are not legal so GKs might need to resort to this. Drawing cards in GK is gooood.

A Whiff of Bad Luck

Some fucked up thing happen today.

A tournament was held in Kuching (my district) and it was meant to be a casual tournament. However, there was a suggestion given by Sung Lee that one place in Malaysia's top 16 for Nationals was to be given to the East Malaysians (we are on a different island-borneo to be exact, if you have heard of it which is likely because we have a fuckload of rainforests here)

So, the tournament organiser's dateline was today, and he didnt know. So Andrew called me up to ask me if i knew who. I immediately called "martin wong" the tournament organiser and told him about the news. So he decided to use todays tournament as the results for Qualifiers, during the last minute after the tournament has finished =.=

This is really fucked up because i had a great chance to go, and that meant i would have an all expense paid trip to KL if i won and had a chance to meet Andrew. Sunglee, Cookie LGQ Sean and the gang again.

Really a waste of chance. Damn pissed now.

Didnt go today because i was preparing for my oral which required minimal effort.

The worst part is the tournament today is the number of ppl participating was only 8 or 9 people? WTF? Damn high chance to top?

Anyways i would still like to congratulate my friend Jun for winning it, although he did win with Hero Beat, which was not considered legal for Asian tourney policy because Stratos, Shining, Zero and Raioh are not allowed..

The organizer, Summer Tea, aka Martin wong scrubbed with dark world. This doesnt mean that Dark World is a fail deck.

Haihs, really makes me feel even more mad that i missed a golden opportunity.

If i had gone, i would have gone with Agent Angels, which i feel is probably the most consistent and all-rounded deck among the KL meta pool.

I managed to get the whole 3 decks of complete Angels with a SR Stardust, SR seven tools, SR debunk, and 2 Herald of Orange Lights for only Rm200. So i guess the whole week wasnt all that bad.

That does mean im gonna be doing an Angel project soon =)

Preparing for next format (OCG)

Its a little early to do so, i admit, but i'm doing it already. They say the early bird catches the worm.

Im talking based on OCG and Malaysian format. So, sorry to TCG readers. This doesnt mean you will close this post first because its always good to know about other ppl's meta.

First of , if you haven't invested in Effect Veiler, you should. This is because Veiler is the only out you will have to an x saber savvy format. people will spam darksouls and faultrolls. If you dont want to lose your whole backrow to 3 Heavy Storms in your opponent's extra deck, your only out is Veiler. because its the most reliable out to hyunlei in the OCG format. Dont be stupid and run Starlight Roads because there's 3 seven tools and Trap Stun around.

Next up, you should be siding those 3 veilers and picking up 2 copies of crow and crevice if you have not had the chance.

This is because im predicting Frog Monarch to have a strong matchup next banlist because it wont be touched and it has a strong matchup against dw, and i wont have to elaborate on dark world at all haha.

Nobody should be maining Prisons or Mirror Forces either. Mirror Force is bad against Samurai with shi-en, and its bad against GK (recycle with stele) and its gonna get bombed by Hyunlei anytime. Those cards should be avoided at almost all costs. D Prison is still decent against GK. Removing their GKs is always good.

Then if you havent got any Levials and Roaches and Solid Rock Gantetsu, you should pick some up now. Roaches are amazing everywhere from X sabers to GKs to Hero etc. Solid Rock Gantetsu is good in angels too because Agent Venus becomes a +2 and a random 2200 attack beatstick. Gantetsu is super hard to kill too. You will waste a turn or two to kill it. which is very good because it wastees your opponent's cards, resources, cuts off his game tempo, and gives you stall time. Soliel was right about this.

Levial is good too. I posted on how it can help X Sabers in the 2nd n 3rd game when your Darksouls get Chain Disappearanced or Nobleman-ed. Levial is perfect (rank 3) and it brings your stuff back. Check out Clarence's post on Six sam utilising this too. Good with Birdman and synchro decks like Plants.

This card is becoming better and better.

Definitely an investment.

Rank 3 is easy to achieve for TCG Tour Guide decks, and any X Saber deck.

The reason why i brought this up was because when i was dueling the other day, i found out that if my Darksoul was removed, and i didnt have any left, i needed something to bring it back efficiently.

So, when i purchases rm300 worth of exceeds from cookie, i found i bought one copy of this so it actually fulfills the task quite well.

Ermmm. sometimes in X sabers, you may find out that you have a bunch of emmersblade/ darksouls in your field when your opponent gets rid of your tuners, and your opponent has something big on the field.

What do you do?

summon Revise Dragon.

Not kidding. It actually works as a beatstick.

Triple Veiler

Recently thought that Effect Veiler is the new Book of Moon.

Played against Psychic Gusta a few days ago, perhaps the best psychic deck in the whole of Malaysia.

Gusta practically let him draw his whole deck out with Mind Master and Brain Research Lab at work. While he Trishula me 5 times (Brionac recycled) and he set 1 Solemn Judgment and 3 Mind Over Matter face down.

Game 1: He won the die roll and he went first. First move he went for one for one. WTF. drew Brain research lab quite soon onwards and then he did the FTK.

Game 2: I started, set Warning, Torrential Darksoul, and won the game in 2 turns.

Game 3: He started first and he opened with Emergency Teleport. abit WTF.

Game 4: I went first and didnt get any negation except Book. Sat there with a set Emmersblade. He had Mind Master in his hand so he normal summoned it, drew Teleport and did a Book. He ended his turn. I went for the kill next turn but he had Waboku! Next turn Mind Master fcked me up.

That was the games without sided Veiler. i went 1-3. Yes embarrassing score

I sided Veilers.

Game 1 : I didnt draw any even though I had a Duality in my hand. We stalled for a while and he finally went for the kill.

Game 2: I drew a Veiler. Win

Game 3: Drew Veiler, Book Warning. No need say.

Game 4: Veiler appeared somehow. Won without much effort. Seven Tools negated his Wabokus and Mind Over Matters all the way.

So, the first 4 games was quite bullshit cos he opened godly all the time. I still think 3 Veilers are damn necessary for the sidedeck.

I wonder why no one in Japan is running Psychic Gusta or Fish FTK.

Im scared Mind Master wouldnt be banned because Konami's answer to it is 3 Veiler because through testing it does work once you side in 3.

Of course this isnt the Asian format so i dont expect many other competitive Malaysians to bother about this post much.

However, one thing i have to admit is im a bad sidedecker, because I dont have the chance to join tourneys so my sidedecking skills are bad. Meaning I have no idea what card should go into my sidedeck. However, I do know how to side stuff in and what stuff to take out.

Dark World again

Im sorry if i post too much DW stuff.

I have heard some players saying its overrated. I beg to differ. The deck built in a different way, and played by a good player will overcome that statement. I'm almost confident it would be played as much as Machinas back in the days, Dragunity before aklys got nerfed, and Agent Angels.

This is an opinion, and if it doesnt happen, im ready to accept all criticisms etc. We've all been wrong about things. Dark World has serious potential. Grapha is an even better boss monster than Hyperion and the deck is packed with so many Destiny Draws.

I've played the deck and 3/5 games, i open up with Gate , Dealings etc and see about 1/4th of my deck before the game even begins.

Out of 5 games, i played at least one destiny draw in 4 games on my first turn. Thats pretty good if you ask me.

If you ask me, Dark World now is like D- Heroes back in the past. Play Destiny Draw and Dark World monsters like Snow and Broww and you will be rewarded for playing such cards. Dont get Destiny Draw, and you end up with crap in your hand. In this case, theres Broww and Snow etc. So, its a good risk. Props to Michael Bonacini for posting on Destiny Draw last format.

However, the difference between D Heroes last time and DW now is the consistency. Now you have DW Lightning, and Gate to make sure they are all live cards no matter what.

So, the first thing you guys will be surprised is why the hell there is no Dark Armed Dragon. The main reason i didnt like him is that he is really DEAD in the opening hand in early game. It will just sit there and do nothing while the number of darks remain constant (gate controls it. Remove one, dump one)

Then, once its in the hand, it will just wait till I Card Destruction or Morphing Jar him away. I dont want to run such an inconsistent card inside. Some may not agree. Run it at your own risk.

Next up is the presence of Celri. What?? Not a single Celri? From testing in 3s, i hated drawing them in multiples. So i cut them down to 2. It still sucked, so i cut it down to one. Still bad, although it resolves Sillva, my sillva is incredibly prone to Solemn Warning and leaving Celri on my opponent's field gives him a +1. Its level 1, a very versatile level, meaning my opponent who has 8 levels worth of fodder could suddenly end up having Trishula (8+1), or he gets free fodder for Formula Synchron.

Not worth it at all, imo. Im also sick of explaining to ppl how Celri's effect works.

3 Grapha is staple, 3 sillva is staple because its better than Goldd, (i'd rather take away 2 of my opponent's hand cards then destroy 2). There is only enough space for 5, because 6 is overkill, you'd see them all stuck in your hand.

Before i started playing DW again, i took the chance to view decklists from Shonen Jump championships and saw that Theresak Poonsombat's built ran many others like DD Warrior Lady, Breaker and others. Then it hit me, that DW was special summoning so fast, it almost wasted its one normal summon per turn, which was a waste.

I tested the deck with 1 Breaker and it worked well so i threw in another. It worked so well i threw in another. Breaker is so good because its an instant plus one. I'd usually mass draw then throw down an MST, drop Breaker, drop Lightning and discard Grapha for maximum card simplification. Breaker is a plus one, and if not, it baits Warnings and BTHs (which is the most important thing) so that your DW monsters can be dropped safely.

I like Breaker too because the whole deck is about plus-sing with Grapha, and Gate, so why not Breaker too ? If you cant summon your DW monsters, you can always rely on Breaker as an Allure fodder or use it as a beatstick to waste some of your opponents stuff.

The deck runs 3 DW Lightning contrary to what i think about how it hits chainable back rows. I realised that if i dont overextend, MST wont hurt me and the exchange would just go as a one for one. Its good to hit face down Rykos, Snowmans, Worms, and others. I love starting the second turn in the early game with a Breaker/ MST and a DW Lightning.

Furthermore, if the deck opens up without Dark World Dealings, and has a Gate, you will find Gate dead and the only way to activate it is to set a DW monster, get it destroyed by battle which is pathetic and wasteful. Lightning makes sure that doesnt happen.

The end result is amazing because the deck simplifies monsters with Grapha, Solemn Warning, Bottomless Trap Hole, while spells and traps are taken care of by MST, Breaker and Grapha and careful baiting.

Also, once this deck drops Tyrus. Ohmygod. Stuff that gets can kill Tyrus is Compulsories, which is very uncommon here, tech Dimension Prison which will usually be destroyed by Breakers and MSTs, and Trishula and Brionac which destroys everything as well.

My traps are simple, direct and still undergoing some changes. D Prisons are interesting but i may switch them over for Book of Moon and Torrential Tribute. I dont like Torrential much in here, because its redundant with Grapha, but Book sounds fine.

I tried 3 Dark Deals and they were overkill. Two were okay, but unfortunately i dont have a second =( and im still scouting for another piece from local players. Its an amazing card that didnt get reprinted (i feared that lol).

One is just right because sometimes it can get situational and my hand usually has a field card or something so i dont want my opponent to hit that. I cant just replace my own field Gate because doing so will SOOOO telegraph and give away that im setting Dark Deal. I remember when i was playing DAD in the build too. Made it just worse.

Ermm. Apart from that, i asked some local players about their ideas for DW and they were buying Fabled Ravens. I personally dont like the idea of mixing tuners like that in DW. Sure you can get out a Stardust or something but thats not the point if you ask me. Those DW monsters are precious discard fodder, and Raven isnt all that great, its not Breaker-good. I would rather use the DW monsters as Exceed fodder. Its a pretty much okay idea only if you ask me :/

I mean its a mass discard card like Card Destruction and Morphing Jar, so it could work too. Its not my cup of tea.

I was also tempted to run Return from the Different Dimension. I tested with it. And it was awesome when resolved properly, because removed Snows nett me Inverz Roach, while removed Browws nett me no 17 Revise Dragon (free food so why not?), and level 5s Tyrus. However it got stuck in my hand in early game and that sucked.

Because early game is very important to DW since you need to outspeed, control and setup (kinda) from there.

There are many better possible builds, i'm positive of it, and my DW deck above is just one out of so many ways to play the deck. Im quite sure the deck will reach tier one or so, and top a few tourneys.

Or its gonna be like Agent Angels when it first started out last year. There was a hype, it died down, and just stayed around tier 1.5 from January to May, and now when the format changes a lil, it takes advantage of it and becomes tier 1. It SHOULD be something like that. Or. It could just go all the way, Grapha is really good.

So, why do i want to play WWBF?

Because it can run the best trap in the game, Icarus Attack.

No Tengus because its OCG firstly, and i dont think Tengu's effect activates if he is used for an Exceed summon.

If not for that, Tengu would be amazing here. As for now, Hydrogeddon and Gadgets being recycled are sorta like Tengu, which is arguably the best TCG exclusive so far..

Burden is for your opponent to waste his MST and allows Hydrogeddon to resolve easily. If Ultimate Offering gets MST-ed, you can still apply simple beatdown

This is only a deck concept. Im aware that if Offering gets MST-ed , i dont have the space/ cards inside to make the deck run like a 5th gadget build :)

Revise Dragon and the Ignorance of the Malaysian Community

A while ago, I asked one player from my area which Exceeds he thought were good. He commented that he liked Revise Dragon best simply and he thought other Exceeds weren't good, and simply, almost bad.

I was shocked.

I asked him why he though Revise was good. he said it was because it got big @ 2500, and the attack raise was permanent.

Just yesterday, I saw a player selling Revise Dragons on Yugioh FB pages (yes our duelists utilises FB to conduct national trades within our country)

I was curious for the prices (he was from peninsular Malaysia, I'm from Borneo, which are 2 different islands although we are of the same country.

He told me that Revise Dragon was sold out, and some player apparently ordered his whole stock.

I was shocked.

So I asked him why he thought Revise was good, and why it was getting so much attention.

He said that Revise was rank 3, and supposedly had high attack, and can kamikaze with Shien.

I think this post will be sort of a rant.

If you were any sane-minded player, and you were playing competitively, you would probably be shocked that there were players who actually made this sort of remarks.

The answers showed no basis, and i was so shocked that I didnt even bother explaining to them why their statements were so stupid.

This just highlights the ignorance of certain Malaysian players in the game.

Im not speaking about ALL Malaysians in general, im speaking about some only.

What this situation highlights is how Malaysians do not even realise about the concept of card advantage.

Revise Dragon is in no way a card that can gain advantage, and if you really wanted a high attack monster @ 2500 attack, why dont you just fuckin tribute summon a Summoned Skull

This also shows that Malaysians care nothing about good card effects but only high attack monsters, making them look really like primates, because only little kids care about high attack monsters, and 2500 attack in a rank 3 monster is enough to satisfy them.

The last thing that is shown is how Malaysians cant even differ a good effect from a bad one. Revise Dragon's effect is so obviously bad, oops i go to all that trouble to summon Revise only to get Bottomless-ed, Mirror Forced, and 1000000x other traps.

To top it off Revise isnt even easy to summon, the only deck that can do it efficiently now is Sabers, and i dont even need to talk about using Emmersblade, Dark soul, and Fullhelm for an Exceed summon.

The statement about Revise being a decent solution to Shien is blasphemous, you are likely to get BTH-ed, warninged etc halfway while attacking.

Even if you do get Shien off the field successfully for some reason, theres no denying you lost card advantage to Shien already and as a boss monster, thats what shien is supposed to do. Generate +1s and +2s, while ruining tempo and momentum of your opponents plays.

Lets not forget your opponent will flip Double Edge Sword Technique next turn....

So what a sane good player would do, is take advantage of this situation, they would gather lots of Revises at cheap prices, and sell them for enormous profit (probably rm 20 to rm 30 per card), to all the idiots who want them

So, why am I playing the good Samaritan here, and not doing it?

I dont know, I've no time for big scale Yugioh at this point in life, because Im still living under a house with my parents, and I have no intention of forsaking my books, social life, and I simply do not have big enough modal to conduct Yugioh at a higher scale.

I am already earning a few hundred a month from simply investing, and selling, so Im pretty contented with that.

Recently, I just purchased RM600 worth of cards, which are considered cheap for the cards i got, due to good bargaiining, good relationships with sellers/ player, and have just sold off RM600 worth of cards which I have obtained at a much lesser price.

Although it is a good scheme to invest in Revises and sell them to idiots, i dont have the heart to do this, because you must remember, those players are also part of the entire Malaysian Duelist Community, and if they are bad players, the environment here will be bad, and it just makes us look shameful to other duelists around the world.

If the environment is bad, there is no way the community's intellectual force will expand, and the good will get better and better (that is why Sung Lee, Zack, Andrew, Sean etc keeps topping tourney after tourney) while the others either sink worse and worse, or never grow as players.

So, what can we do to thwart this?

From what I see, any player that is exposed to the online Yugioh community, such as blogs, TCGplayer, DGz, Pojo, and catching up on the official Yugioh site's coverage of Western events are free from this ignorance.

So, I'd like to urge the English-literate players in our Malaysian community to spread their knowledge to the other players on card strategies, and even simple concepts like card advantage.

Im talking about people who can actually read, write and speak proper English to players, and the bloggers have a big role in this, and not those who can read and speak half-assed broken English.

Those who have mastered a full command of the English and Mandarin language are even more useful assets because they can understand what we write online, and translate it properly to those players who can only grasp half the stuff we write here.

Currently, our country is quite behind in everything, economy,politics, social affairs, development, and ironically, its Yugioh too!

Our neighbours, the Singaporeans have no problem with this ignorance thing, because their players are of a different level compared to ours. Hence how Sam can come to every Malaysian official sanctioned event, and take top 3 everytime.

So, as dutiful citizens (??), it is our job to help. Next time you see a player making bad, unprofessional remarks, do remember this article, and try explaining to them why they were wrong.

Discussing tech for Light Beat

Now that Light Beat has excess to Escuriado, Super Fusion, the spell speed 4 awesome godly card is going in 2s or 3s in each players deck, making it the most expensive deck to date in the OCG in M'sia.

While Escuriado is good because you can now fuse your opponent's monsters, many forget that it means you are free to run dark monster cards yourself because of miracle fusions.

I think the best tech is Spirit Reaper. Its a staller, and its presence alone already makes your opponent waste a Warning or Torrential just to destroy it.

Its easy to get through with Reaper because of how good Light Beat is at simplifying the field. It -1 your opponent, which is what Light Beat does best.

At the same time, Doomcalibur knights become liable too in Light Beat builds that do not run Skill Drain. Knight backed up by Warning, MST, and other face downs make a very intimidating field. It gets even better with Warning, meaning you dont have to force it to tribute itself the moment any effect is activated. I think. It still can tribute itself to negate an effect with Skill Drain on the field (cost and its counted as not on the field) but im not too sure on it , and i'll like some reconfirmation.

Lets not forget that if Darks are splashable in Light Beat (now should be called Hero Beat), if BLS gets unbanned guess which deck it goes well in :P

Im also gonna be running the lone copy of BLS in dark world. In case you haven noticed, i can get a light monster in the graveyard through Tyrus. Just a combination of Goldd or Silva will pave the way for BLS.

So, should BLS be unbanned? think again :)

I got my playset of Disigmas already and they are lovely =D getting 2 more soon and plannin to sell 4 for profit, and keep 1 Disigma, 2 Roaches, 3 Tyruses, 1 Levial, and 1 Terrabyte, which are the Exceeds you SHOULD waste your cash on not cup ramen stuff like Leviath (revise) Dragon.

i read on Shriek that TCG is getting their Inverse Roaches. Grats Grats. Raioh now in extra deck. Tried it out in Sabers. Mmmm

I also cant believe the 2 TCG exclusives are good. Orient Dragon is a generic level 6, and is very balanced. Sorta like Caius. Its effect is handy.

Adreus Keeper of Armagaedon is imbal too. Seriously? Tiras no.2? More support for DW. I need to get 2 or 3 :D Its effect isnt as good as Tiras, but it is instantaneous meaning you dont need to conduct your battle phase to get its effect off

Michael Bonacini pointed out on this card a while ago.

I just realised how valuable it is to protect Inverse Roach, Disigma etc.

Lets not forget you can target your OPPONENT's monster if it gets MST-ed face down.

It can be recycled with Giant Trunade.

Target opponent's card, play Trunade, recycle, and remove opponent's monster from play.

In Sabers, you can use it to target your opponents monster and use Hyunlei to destroy Safe Zone and two other cards on my opponent's field.

This card has potential. There are still alot of other combos.

Meaning the monster cant be destroyed, save Trishula, and .. MST XD

Today is the finals for American Idol, and its Scotty and Lauren battling it out.

Im sorry, America, but i lost interest the moment James was kicked out early in the top 4 when he should have made top 2 or 3.

It was bad that Pia Toscano, and Stefano and Casey got kicked out early too.

As a person who appreciates originality in music, its really depressing.

I know most of America's older community root for Scotty and Lauren because they kinda resemble the ideal children they'd like to have.

But sorry, Scotty is just depressing. Country = no no for me.

I would like to run him for his epicness, and the card art, and because i never got to run a BLS because i wasnt playing competitively when Goat Control was around. Although i was aware of the card...

The Power of Gadgets

Apart from being an incredible game simplifier, Gadgets have the power to swarm the field with Exceeds in one turn.

Earlier on at one point. there was only no 39 Utopia so people were already hyping Gadgets.

Now. At least 3 more playable Exceeds that are ranked 4 have been released.

They are:

Gemknight Pearl- decent beatstick

Disigma- Awesome game simplifier too.

Roach- built in Oppression.

So, we all know Ultimate Offering is the catalyst for this combo.

Spamming 9 gadgets in one deck and 3 ultimate offerings. Now, there is a very very high chance (no im not gonna do the math too lazy) that you will open up with 1 or more gadgets and at least one Offering in your opening hand.

Even without Offering, there is always 3x Duality to improve the numbers for you.

And.. Everytime you summon a Gadget successfuly and search, you thin the deck thus giving you more chances to draw into Offering, or reveal Offering via Duality.

Even without that dreaded combo, the deck can still simplify and beatdown for a while.

So, lets see how many Exceeds we can summon in one turn!

Flip offering, summon 3 gadgets, and pay 1000 lp for offering. you have 6 gadgets left in your deck/ hand

exceed summon disigma.

drop 2 more gadgets, and exceed a roach.

you now have 4 more gadgets left to use, meaning you can exceed another disigma or roach depending on your mood, and playstyle.

So, you can actually end up with 3 roaches (6 gadgets there) and 1 disigma (3 gadgets)

pretty awesome huh.

The best thing is that the deck is going to be easily compatible with 3x Pot of Avarice.

If you are playing casually, you could even summon Pearl or no 39 Utopia, even though Im NOT a fan of utopia, and i have never been, and never will be, despite how everyone says how good it is. Unless some bullshit support comes out for it then, since it is the main character's main card...

And it is at 2500 attack, the base attack for all main character main monsters.

Not to mention, Baha pointed out that Utopia cant prevent opponent's dimension prison and mirror force

I have this freaking tendency to run Safe Zone, Dark Bribe, Seven Tools of the Bandit for some awesome good fun !

5) DW Lightning is getting unreliable because opponents keep chaining their cards or they are smart and don't set anything for me to use Lightning on >:D

so, i may have to replace one with Dragged Down into the Grave.

Another thing to note:

Debunk gets even better and better. In case you have no idea its effect, it is :

When a monster effect in the grave or hand is activated, negate it and remove that monster from play.

Wanted to post like last 2 days but then my internet sucked and i couldnt get the blogger.com sign in button at the top right hand corner to show up.

tested dw with a scrap duelist frm cali on duelnet.

he was a good player.

i lost 2 games in a row due to a certain card called debunk.

he was maining 3 !

it totally wrecks dark world.

the first game i lost because of debunk. i could have turned the game around because i had a level 4 snow in my hand a monster reborn to special summon a scrap beast from his grave.

however i didnt have an extra deck because i was just testing the deck's flexibility and i forgot about an extra deck T.T we were topdecking at that time so i was pretty sure if i summoned collosal, the game would have gone differently.

also, everytime i used DW lightning, he would chain the face down mst, chalice or lance, so i couldnt get the discard effect.

the 2nd game was extremely funny.

i was controlling then he set 3 cards face down in 2 turns, and they were all 3 copies of fiendish chain!

he stopped my grapha from attacking in 3 turns and used scrap dragon to destroy my grapha each turn.

it was very wtf for me :(

i was ahead in advantage but then 3 scrap dragon direct attacks = 2800 x 3 = game!

also cos he activated debunk some point in the early game, but i was able to play around that, but not the 3 fiendish chains!!

moral of story, debunk wrecks dark world.

played darkworld mirror matches with andrew one day. went 1-2. the thing about dw mirror matches is that they go really really fast, or really slow. the first 2 games took like 5 mins each? while the 3rd game took a whopping half an hour.

at one point of the game, there were 3 celris on the field and we couldnt differetiate which one was ours.

first game was really bad for me, i didnt draw well and he had dark deal to negate my lightnings and he dropped a sillva to claim advantage. woooo. then he summoned bronn which is amazing in dw mirror matches because dark deal negates ur lightnings, and u cant activate dark deal because your opponent will profit. lol.

2nd game was my mistake. i was sleepy, but i had dark deal face down and he activated lightning and i flipped deal. however i realised i forgot to set a lightning in my hand >.>

i had 4 cards in my hand and 3/4 chances of getting a dw monster discarded but noooooo fml he discarded my lightning, which was crucial to me because i couldnt get my dw monsters out next few turns and i lost alot of advantage there, so it went downhill from there :)

3rd game was us playing really conservatively.

also, im not worried about the samurai matchup agaianst dw.

this is because as hard as it seems to get rid of shi-en, quite the contrary really. lol.

this is because as long as you can get a grapha out, it can kill shi-en really easily.

you basically have to waste one spell card so that shi-en negates it then after that, you can drop grapha pretty easily.

its balanced out because shi-en was made from kageki + kagemusha (thats 2 cards there) so you dont really lose advantage.

dark deal negates trunade and rota and smoke signals so they rot without shien if you go first and acts like a solemn warning for spells. watch out. this is a very crucial card in the dw deck thats worth running 2 to 3 of.

apart from that, i won just abt every other match there with dw ^^

So, lessons learnt from duelnet.

1) debunk wrecks darkworld. side it.
2) DW mirror matches are stupid
3) sillva is amazing with dark deal
4) Bronn, mad king of dw is VERY good in Dw mirror matches.

3 snow is broken. this is the card that will bring the deck to tier one. lol.

Adding any card is broken.

Sillva is broken too.

Since celris effect has been confirmed as you discarding the monster, i straight away main 3.

met my share of scrubs and trolls too.
